Cooey scope mounting question

If you can find the old 3/4 side mount that were made very early Cooey time, most model 75, 60 and later 650 and 750 models came drilled and tapped for this rather rare mount. I know that Cabelas has the modern variant to mount a 1 inch tube.

I have one of the old n mounts for cooeys, only takes 7/8 " tubes i think. If i dug real deep might even find one of the scopes as well, if they are rare as toymaker says maybe my fortune has arrived.:)

I have sold a few and they were about the $40-50 mark...with original scope to a collector, as high as a C-note. More important are the original D&T holes from factory. The modern version fits these holes but the mount seems odd on this older model gun.

I have a number of Cooey rifles and they are all single shot. I sold the first rifle I ever had to a friend and he drilled and tapped it for a side mount. I got the rifle back a few years ago and would like to mount a 1" tube on it. I don't see how your going to put a 1" tube into a 7/8" mount. Or can you ??? How ???

No the n mount won`t take a 1" tube. Brownells shows a few side mounts that take a 1" scope but they would havwe to be modifyed to fit a cooey. Options are very limited for cooeys.

Cooey scope mount

The Weaver model 60A cantilever mount was created for the Browning Semi auto .22 and can be mounted on the barrel just ahead of the receiver on the Cooey. It cantilevers back and allows for enough room for the scope to clear the bolt handle, as well as allowing for room to feed the cartridges well. I`ve had that done on a Cooey model 39 and 75 with great success. There are of course 3 holes to drill and tap in that configuration. It`s a lot cheaper than going the other route and allows for a strong mount configuration because it`s a Weaver style base, not a tip-off style.

Drilling holes in the barrel to mount a scope somehow doesn't really sound like a good idea. I think I'm going to scrap the Cooey idea and go another route.

Some of the early Cooey .22s were factory D&Ted on the side of the action not the barrel. Cabela's sells a modern mount for these old girls and it takes the 1' scopes. It utilizes The original holes .
