This is my old Winchester Cooey 64B, I'm the second owner from the first
owner who bought it new back in the early 60's.
When I got it, it was all rusted out, jam but the bore was so clean and oiled.
After worked on it piece by piece and re-do the stock.

I have this one is coming, it's still in shipment ....

and just got this Savage FSS this morning ....

The good ol' technology from Cobourg, Ontario that never die ....
These pieces can be assemble in less than 1min and 30 sec.

Here is the comparison from the old Cooey from the early 60's to the
new Savage FSS, all parts still interchangeable ....

Are the trigger assemblies interchangable?

Hi,

I have a Lakefield 64b...

The trigger is horrible... I get cramps pulling it for too long... the trigger....

Can you interchange a newer trigger assembly? ie... can I buy an aftermarket trigger group for my Lakefield?

If I were you I would just change the spring and polish the sear.
If you can get the older one they're much better than the newer one.

Cooey arrived from Ellwood

I took the cooey right out the box and brought it to the range ....
Not a single bullet would chamber into the breech .... wtf .....
after dropping so much oil in the receiver finally got some shots out of it.

I took it apart and found so much crap inside it right down into the action.
after cleaning it out using carb cleaner and gun blast, everything came
out nice and clean. Polish sear, trigger, ramp, firing pin and the action.
lube it with FNB grease. After all that work, finally everything was working
nice and smooth. Accuracy is amazing with this good ol' tech. ...

I just bought a buddy's Lakefield 64b and was asking him if there was a way to lower the trigger pull on it, then I run across this thread.

We took it out this weekend and it was having troubles re-chambering the loads. It would spit the spent shell out but I was hearing alot of "Click"s rather than "Bang"s. Maybe I will take it apart as you did and give it a good cleaning.

Thanks for posting this thread Sniper 22 :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

If cleaning doesn't get one working, try a new magazine. The diecast zinc alloy magazines do wear.
Be careful of the extractor in the old spring wire ejector versions. Can be broken, replacement parts are long out of production. Can take a bit of looking to find one.

I have 2 magazines, one with a steel feeder and the other with a plastic feeder and both were having periodic FTL's not just one or the other. Plus we tried 4 different rounds 3 different Federals and some Winchester Dynapoints, all with the same results.

CyaN1de is mistaken, they are both cast mags. I got this 64B a while ago and had it disassembled and cleaned, it worked great after that. It probably could use another cleaning, because if the bore is any indication, some of the rounds seemed pretty dirty. They left, what looked like, unburned powder in the barrel.KD

If you end up needing the wire ejector I've got new old stock ejectors as well as lots of other new old stock parts for all the Cooey model guns.

Ooops, my bad...sorry :bangHead:

Here the two different clip of Cooey, Lakefield and the new Savage.
They can be used on all the 64 series guns.
I find that the new one works better for all the guns.
retail price of the new one about $ 16.00 or up, wholesale about $ 11.00
