Cooeys in .410 - 3" Chambers?

All Cooey models 84. 840 have 3" chambers, Cooey never chambered for the 2.5" 410 cal. The only gun they made ina 2.5" was an experimental bolt action, very rare to ever see one other than books!

Wrong. I have a m84 in .410 with a 2.5" chamber. Never say never! To the best of my knowledge, the m840s were chambered 3"

In all the reference Cooey books and literature I have it says that the single model 84 are 2.5" and 3" chambered guns? I have never seen a 2.5" chambered only Cooey marked gun, only the Store brands once in all the years I have been in the gun selling and trading/shooting game, funny that that there is no Cooey marked shotguns with 2.5" chambers?

If anyone has a Cooey marked ONLY model 84(no store brand guns ), please post some detailed picutres, as this is quit interesting!
Also if anyone has a Cooey 410 boltaction shotgun, please contact me, cheers dale Z!

Here's a 2 1/2" chambered old friend that has accompanied me on many Moose trips, close to your neck of the woods, Wells. This old .410 Ranger sits on the dash of the truck for ditch chickens, usually returning to camp from the morning or evening search for Moose. It's supplied us with a lot of Ruff Grouse for camp meat on our trips.

About two years ago, the twin to that one was for sale at the Duncan gun show. That's only the second one I've ever seen and I almost picked it up, but why?? Anyway, didn't and haven't seen it at any local shows since. Sitting on the dash of the truck on Moose hunts just for 'ditch chickens'. It's handy for what I use it for.

I have a Cooey/Ranger in .410. Bluing and wood on it are in very nice condition. They are nice , light guns for carrying.

My Cooey 840 is 3" and says so on the barrel. Push a snug-fitting rod into the chamber until it bumps up against the forcing cone and measure it. That should be easy, given the 1/2" difference you are looking for.

Thats essentially what I did, got well over 3".

To save everyone the excitement, I went out yesterday and shot a dozen or so 3" shells through it. Gun didnt explode, I still have all my digits, am not blind, and now feel comfortable that I could wack a standing grouse reliably every shot at 25 yards. My scientific method for determining such involved how far I could smash clays standing up in the snow.
