A pair of them in fact. Just inherited a model 600 bolt action (tube mag) and a model 64 semi-auto (mag is missing).

I'll likely clean them up nice and sell them, as i don't need any more 22's. Although it's nice to have rifles made in Canada....

Does any one know if you can get mags for model 64, or if there is something compatible?

Anyone know the value of these rifles? their in decent shape, with honest wear.

I adore my 64's!

The original 64 came with a plastic magazine. changed to a metal one for 64"B". Many of the original 64's were converted to use the metal mags. You can find both but, the plastic ones are pretty rare(watch the EE and, shows), costly and, prone to issue. Metal ones still made by savage today...The conversion is pretty straightforward too.

Good score regardless! I've not bought or sold a 60 but, the last 64B I sold (complete with second stock, 2 mags and a 4x scope) I got 125$ for. Hard to accept as, you can buy a new Savage for little more.

This is a picture of a 64 that was converted to use metal mags. See the "keyhole" shaped mag well...

Received this picture from a fellow CGN'er and, posted without permission (yet...)

Cooey and Lakefield were two different plants. Cooey was Winchester and never had anything to do with Savage. Lakefield is Savage. However, the 64's from both are the same. Savage wants $14US for a mag.

Lakefield bought the rights for the 64 from Winchester when they closed the Canadian plant. Later, Savage bought out Lakefield and the rights to the 64 which is still made.
As mentioned, value for a very nice model 60 could maybe fetch $150.00. In fact I think I just saw one somewhere sell for that. If average condition ,then $100.00-$125.00, poor condition less than $100.00.
The model 64 in average condition can be found often around the $100.00 mark.
