Lol, so I got myself a Type 81M to play with since I have tons of 7.62x39 in the safe and nothing to shoot it from since the Lib-Coms took my Vz.58. So far it is pretty much exactly what I thought it would be, some things are great ,some are just what they are. One thing I didn't like though was the heave LMG barrel on it so that needed trimming to size diameter wise. While I was knocking off the front sight I had a flash of (Brilliance ?), maybe ?

I had a NOS front sight block from a Vz.58 and measured it against the 81M's front sight and....EXACTLY the same height !! WooHoo !!

So tell me what y'all think, good idea, bad idea, a bit of sacrilege to mix and match Czech goodness with Chinesium ? I kind of like it and as an added bonus not only can I now use my -58 bayonet for sticking various things I also have one of the cool (Galil I think ?) bi-pods for it that Wolverine Supplies used to sell ( : I suppose it will look better once I reblue it and put the AK side folder on....

This thread is for poops and giggles so please, don't crush my dreams...

BTW, MASSIVE props to TI for bringing these in. Once I get this bad boy into the bush I'll be a HAPPY CHAPPY !

What do you think any of us would do with even half your ability and knowledge? It’s a rhetorical question (as you could probably imagine, with all the insane inquiries you receive).

Do your best or worst and share the results. At least let us live vicariously through your experiments.

I'm thinking of a screw in extended charging handle and different stock adapters since I'm making one for the AK side folder anyways.

Any suggestions on stuff to make ?

Everything Sigmaco used to make. Big void in aftermarket parts someone’s gotta fill. Maybe not handguards since TI has those but all the stock adapters and such.

Good call. We don't impede in other vendors markets if we can help it and I know TI has handguard coming. We have no interest in making those.

As far as the other stuff.... we'll get on that, don't see why not.

If you could make a version of the AR type safety selector, similar to what Sigmaco used to produce, you'd sell a loooooot of them. I have one on my 81 SA and it's night and day compared to any standard Type 81 safety. Something to think about anyway.

Wish I had the skill set and machine shop capacity that you have access to. Great stuff. Looking forward to seeing your experiments further with this platform.

As far as products related to T81, I wouldn't mind seeing Dlask's take on the stock adapters that Sigmaco used to offer, as well as anything related to the safety and charging handle.

This, exactly. Ambi safety with AR safe and fire positions. I'll buy at least four. If you want to borrow the one I have to look at let me know.

Also cool job on the front sight :)

I should have also mentioned in my last post that an AK safety selector would be really cool too. One where you don’t have to use an airsoft Ak selector lever and don’t need this unnamed companies own side rail that holds a detent pin in it for it to function properly.

Looks great! The VZ 58 was my favorite rifle and I was in the same situation with a bunch of ammo sitting around I couldn't use. So I bought a a T81M UF and like you said it is what it is. I know Tactical Imports has an MLOK handguard rail for it but I'm hoping someone makes a red dot/picatinny rail that attaches to the rear sight. I like to keep the wood hand guard on and I have an under folder so that limits my use of red dots as side mounts interfere with the stock folding.

Looking to see what you do with the charging handle, I have giant hands and the charging handle sucks. Any plans on doing something with the safety?

If you have one to bring in so we can look at it and do our own version that would be fantastic. Thank you for the offer.

I think we will focus on the AR style but with a 90 deg throw first. I've never been a fan of making things 'look alike' if you know what I mean. Like turning a Valmet into a Galil, I just don't get it. Modify ,yes, but it will always be what it is so don't make it a fake something. Just how I feel and you guys are free to disagree of course.

For a rear sight replacement, what style would y'all like ? A ghost ring style ? maybe a modified turret like the HK rifles ? lol Just throwing out ideas so think of some and throw them back !

A company local to us used to make a small red dot size rail section that popped into the place of the rear sight on a Vz.58 ,would that be cool ? Not sure if most of you would want a full sized (or LPVO) scope or just a red dot..again homes and homies, let me know.

I've spoken with Joe about getting a proper rivet press so we can do the trunnion swaps correctly for the butt stock and *possibly barrels trunnions as well. You send in your rifle, you buy one of the different rear stock adapters from us, and we swap out the trunnion and re-rivet the puppy back in for you professionally. We could use Chicago Screws but it is such a ghetto way to do it and they would inevitably come wobbly and that #### just annoys me personally. Let us know if you guys would be interested in that as a service we would offer.

Anyways, I have to start packing today's orders then strip this bad boy to send for bluing..Have a GREAT weekend and send me some ideas.
