The website describes it as a 3 mode drop in trigger, so instead of no auto position, you get what sounds to be a trigger that is assisted in reseting somehow, but I can't find out how it works yet... but damn look at how much brass those guys are pumping out in that video... WOW.

If anybody finds out how these things work, and if they are Canada legal, let me know, because I want one!

From the website....

-------------------------------------

3rd Mode has a positive reset characteristic

Semi Auto is a Match Grade 4 1/2 Pound pull

Zero Take up and no overtravel

Components are full EDM and CNC'd in house

Components are coated with NP3 (Nickel Teflon)

3 mode billet safety selector included

BATFE compliant/ Non NFA

$500 USD? To waste ammo? No thanks.

The RCMP would have to make a determination on whether it is legal to import. Looks like it would be a no.

why would the rcmp get to decide weather i get to drop a 4.5 pound trigger in my ar.
all it is, is a drop in trigger kit. semi auto.
or did i miss somthing??

I am sure this trigger will make every anti gun liberal wet their panties in fear and since what is fun to a pro gunner makes liberals dribble on the floor, it will be banned as too fun for Canada :(

It looks like the gun fires upon release of the trigger in the third mode to me, kind of like a paintball gun. Too cool though, I'll take one if they make it in

3rd mode looked to me like it fires on the release as well as on the pull. Just from the video, where it seems his trigger finger is moving at about half the rate the shots are. No?

Pretty much rules that out for Canadian import. Their silly rules are interpreted differently from our silly rules.

That about sums it up for me.

Well, the wording is:

  • 1. Any electrical or mechanical device that is designed or adapted to operate the trigger mechanism of a semi-automatic firearm for the purpose of causing the firearm to discharge cartridges in rapid succession.

This clearly violates the spirit of the above, but may or may not also violate the letter of the law. It may just be a fancy short reset trigger, which should be legal, or it may be a separate enough device or mechanism that it gets banned. My bet is on them finding a way to ban it, just based on past history. The BATF ruling it not an NFA item is helpful, they are worse than the RCMP when it comes to bullsh!t rulings and if they say it is ok that is a good start.

Edited to add: If it is also firing on the release it is illegal here, period. The RCMP have clearly stated that one trigger pull must equal one shot or it is a prohibited device.

From another forum about how it works:

About the Tac-Con 3MR TriggerThe 3MR is a drop-in 3-mode fire control system with Safe, Semi-Automatic, and Tac-Con's patented 3rd Mode.* The 3rd mode has a positive reset that dramatically reduces the split times between shots. The positive reset characteristic is achieved by transferring the force from the bolt carrier through the trigger assembly to assist the trigger back onto the front sear. As a result, this gives the firearm the fastest reset possible. Both semi and 3rd mode positions exhibit a non-adjustable 4.5 pound trigger pull weight.* Why 4.5 pounds?* Because most law enforcement agencies limit any trigger used for duty to 4.5 pounds and above. Extensive testing done by Tac-Con, the ATF (BATFE), and professional shooters have proven that this is the fastest semi-automatic trigger in the world. The 3MR is ATF approved and is NOT a NFA part. Each trigger is accompanied by a copy of the ATF letter. This is not a bump fire system. The shooter must pull the trigger once for every round fired. Additional information will be available at (taccon website) on December 1st. Thank you for your interest in Tac-Con!!

It sort of looks like the trigger has enough return pressure to push your finger forward so essentially all you have to do is hold the trigger down. The trigger is still firing one shot per round but you only need a pull motion instead of a pull and release. My 2cents.

Definitely be more fun if we were allowed to have more than 5 rounds. Even 10 rounds wouldn't be enough. I like it but think I would just waste a lot more ammo.
It's so pretty I would want to mount it outside the receiver ;)

My understanding is that it uses energy from the bolt slamming home to reset the trigger, so if you hold it with just the right amount of force the trigger will reset itself without the operator having to consciously release it. I figure it has about as good a chance of being legal as anything else.
