Coonan .357

I had one and liked it a lot. Very accurate, great trigger, manageable recoil, and totally reliable. What more do you need ;-) The grip is a little longer and narrower but manageable for average sized hands. It definitely does not feel like a 1911 though. I set mine up to shoot both magnums and +p specials. The set up for the specials requires a little more tweaking of springs etc. The only thing to note is that they are not quite as nicely fit and finished as other 1911 in the range but still not bad.

Short, I have no problem highly recommending them based on my experience.

I'm a big fan of all 1911's, but this pistol lasted 2 weeks in my collection. Didn't like the extra long grip for the 357. Just me personally

absolutely love mine, the grip is longer than a 1911 but about same size in girth.

Great trigger and the recoil is not bad at all very manageable.

unfortunately prices went up IMO.

paid mine with adjustable sights 1950$ish... now seen em approx 2400.

very good gun.

Yeah, the one I linked to is $2500 and it's the base model (fixed sights and only one mag included)

Is it worth the price increase, ie if you didn’t get yours for 2 grand would you pay 2800 after taxes for it?

Out of curiosity will they shoot wad cutter Bullets reliably? I used to own Colt national match mid range and wonder if this could replace it.

Not sure. Even if the cartridge could be picked up out of the mag, you would have to mod the springs. To shoot 38 special (AE 130gr @ 230 ft lb energy), I dropped to a 6 lb recoil spring and it cycled but only just. To go lighter or have a dedicated 38 special set up, you would want to swap in a lighter main spring and probably a new firing pin stop with a healthy radius. Whether it could feed a wadcutter, don't know.

I love mine. Definitely larger than the standard 1911 as far as grip goes, but I'm happy with it.

I don't think mine is quite broken in yet. I have less than 500 rounds through it. I oil it as per the manual, but I use PMC ammo which is a bit dirty, so, at around 100 rounds it starts to gum up.

Man those price did skyrocketed, paid mine 1700 all in with 3 mags in 2014...

The best price I've seen so far for the stainless with one mag is now $2049. I sure do regret not jumping on this a few years ago when Wanstalls had them.
