Hi CGN,

I was wondering if anyone has a Cooper in 17HMR?

I have a friend who is interested in one. What type of accuracy are you getting?

He would like something that is high quality with a wood stock and blued barrel...

Thanks.

I think the most accurate 17 I ever saw was an Anshcutz but the Cooper should be right up there with it. I had a Cooper in the not so popular 17HM2 in the light varmint model and a CZ american and in thet caliber there wasn't much to choose between the 2. FS

This is a Cooper Jackson Squirrel in 17HMR with 22" sporter barrel (SS), Turkish walnut and the trigger set at 1.5#, along with an older Leupold 4.5-14 with fine duplex, .5 moa is pretty much standard with this rig, tighter groups have been shot, again all dependent on the shooters skill. A Cooper is a high quality firearm, topped with good glass and decent ammo an experienced shooter would have no problem with gophers to 200M and usually a little more.

I owned one for about a year, the LVT below. Below are a couple of five shot groups fired at 50 yards, while I was testing ammunition. 100 yard groups average under 3/4".

I love the groups. What did your gun like for ammo?

Winchester Supreme 17gr v-max. At 50 yards, my 17HMR shot slightly smaller groups than my Cooper Jackson Hunter in 17Mach2, but at 100 yards, they both averaged about the same. I sold the 17HMR, but I kept the 17mach2, it's still my go to rifle for ground squirrels.

OMG!!! That is beautiful!!! Please give me details. Have you shot it?

When I do get it scoped, I'm thinking of a 6.5-40 Leupold V3.[/QUOTE]

I just noticed you are waiting to get a scope.

I ordered a Sightron SIII. 8-32x56. A little overkill but should be nice.

Thanks!
Haven't shot it yet :(
Its a Custom Classic .17 HMR. With the following bells and whistles:
- Lilja Stainless Fluted Barrel (high polish except in the fluting.) Some like the stainless look, some wish I would have stayed with Blued :)
- Sent own wood in. Bought blank from Canyon Creek Custom Gunstocks
- Skeleton Grip Cap
- Skeleton Butt Plate
- Grade 2 Engraving Package

It's a nice decoration, but unless you shoot it, that's all it is.:)

I have a fairly nice Cooper myself, but it is fired regularly.

Some nice looking rifles! Right up my alley as far as style and appearance!

Might have to think about adding one to my wish list.....

That is one of my favorites Stubble! Beautiful wood and I like the ebony tip on that model.

When I asked about the ebony , Cooper wasn't even sure if they wanted to do it, but they did decide to do it for me.
