I some how managed to really let copper fouling build up in my 700 VLS 204. Need some help/advice on getting rid of it.

Have tried Hoppe's Bench Rest Copper Solvent, but still have a long way to go. Do I just keep trying it?

Suggestions? Thanks.

JB Bore cleaning paste on a new brush for 40 passes and then any of your copper solvents is the quickest way I have found.

I have seen some barrels so copper fouled that before cleaning you could not get the pilot of a reamer in the barrel...

I like Barnes CR-10 for bad copper fouling. Soak bore well, use a nylon brush and lots of patches LOL

+1. Barnes works pretty good.

Sweets 7.62 is even better. It is so strong it is almost a gel (sort of in between a fluid and a gel).

Wet bore...wait a few minutes and copper patches right out. I've never had to do more than 2 applications at a time before the patches stop turning blue.

Mercury works better on lead fouling.
Not as well on copper.

I know, it was in jest, hence the smiley face. I actually use a combination of Wipe Out, Barnes CR10, Hoppes and G96, depending on the gun and what I have to clean out of the bore. I also have an electronic bore cleaner that works pretty well, too. - dan

I use household ammonia, it works well and removes the copper chemically without scrubbing.
Brake Kleen works well to take out powder residue.
CLP and G96 are good gun oils to finish off with a clean patch...
