Well, I decided to order a Cooper from Prophet River. This one is going to be my creation from the ground up. I am supplying my own Blank and going from there. It will be a .17 HMR Custom Classic with all the bell's and whistles. Pic's are kind of crappy but it's a piece of Presentation Claro.

I am looking foward to seeing how it turns out as well. The additional options I have chosen are a Fluted Lilja Barrel and a Skeleton Butt and Grip Cap.

Nice, Fluted barrels look pretty darn sharp. Can't go wrong with a Cooper. When is the ETA?

Thanks. I went with the high polish option as well. ETA??? Clay at Prophet River should receive the blank by today or Monday and I am guessing anywhere from 6-12 months after that?

Wow, that is a great deal of patience. I don't think I could wait a year for a custom build. The longest to date was 3 months and even that was pretty painful. Hopefully it comes back to you quicker then that.

Was that wait for a Cooper? I know mine might take a bit longer than normal due to all the options. I don't know if Cooper has a stock pile of Lilja Stainless Fluted Barrels on hand for build like this? If not then that drages the wait period out.

No my builds were with a local (non international gunsmith). His work is great but I guess he wasn't also cutting/inletting a stock for me either. Regardless, you are doing something that though pricey is going to something you keep in your collection until you have to hand it off.

The wood you have looks awesome, and I like all your extra features. All but your barrel choice. I wouldnt get a fluted barrel on a custom classic, flutes on a synthetic stocked hunting rifle yes, on a super classic rimfire no. If I was building it I wouldnt go a lilja either - Coopers all shoot unreal, what are you hoping to get out of a lilja that you wouldnt get from their normal barrel? If it was me I would take the money you were going to spend on the barrel changes and get inletted swivels, and a checkered bolt knob.

Of course it is your build, and should be made the way you wish. I look forward to seeing it finished! That wood is something else.

I believe that a Lilja barrel is more accurate than a factory Cooper barrel. I also wanted to go with a Stainless look. Here are a few pic's of what a custom classic with a stainless barrel looks like. I think it's pretty cool looking.

:D It will be a nice rifle! I dont know how the lilja is going to be "more accurate" then the 1 jagged hole groups the factory barrels shoot.
Like I said, whatever floats your boat, afterall its you who will own it and shoot it for years. I would look at the bolt knob checkering....

Nice pink fingernail polish! All joking aside it looks like you will have an awesome looking rifle when it is done! Look forward to seeing pictures when it arrives!

Thanks guys. I am very excited with the build and Clay from Prophet River has been excellent to deal with.

I finally decided on a scope. Went with a Leupold VX-II 6-18x40mm.

Huh? No offense the scope isn't horrible or anything but I would have thought you would have got something to match a custom rifle? Like a custom shop VX3 or VX7L 4.5-18x56mm with side focus (this is pretty darn close to the mag you are looking at) Maybe have it engraved as well....
