Cooper Rifles shoot

This rifle just sold to a customer over the weekend. He didn't waste anytime getting out with it. After the pic is a note he sent to me just a few minutes ago. Important to note that this guy has shooting skills well beyond most of us. :)

Cooper M38 Varminter .17 Fireball. $1799

rifle showed up @10 am.Very nice.Broke it in over the course of the day,it is a shooter.I havn't shot any 5 shot groups as I am still on 3 shot break in.When I shoot a group for accuracy,I always put 5 in the group,3 shots ,well you can get lucky once in a while. The last group shot was as mentioned a 3 shot,it measured .311 CTC,which is not real special untill I mention that it was at 200yds!!!!!!! It appears that it is a real tackdriver. The load was 16.6 grns h4198 and a 20 grn vmax.Velocity was 4084 fps
thank you

how did it group at long range? 300+ yards. I shot a 3 shot group yesterday at 460 yards that went 2.5", I shoulda took a pic. It was with a plain jane Rem 700 SPS in 270 Win. I was impressed, although it was only one group (but the gun does shoot good). 130 gr NBT @ 3100 fps with 60 grs RL22. Pretty similar to the 280AI, I woulda thought the AI would be quite a bit quicker

As far as I know, he hasn't shot that far yet. He's still just breaking it in. I know there is more at play than simple geometry but .311 @ 200 is .7153 @460 if we just use a simple ratio.
...and we all know that and actual 2.5" group at 460 yds is very impressive with most any rifle. :)

I ran out of TTSX bullets before I could test at long range,so that will have to wait for a bit.As far as velocity goes,I did reach 3150 with Accubonds, but I like the accuracy of the TTSX load, and the on game performance of the TTSX,so I am going to be content with 3070fps.

Try repeating it...it might be a Shooter.

I used the same basic load and bullet in my buddies old Remington "Classic" in 270Win. I shot groups at 200 yards that were so small I didn't know how to properly measure them...Bug holes....With a 3X9 scope!

Guy that owns the rifle is a one box a year guy and refuses to shoot.....At all.
Never cleans the chromoly barrel either. :(

Admittedly their classics aren't terrible, but they could have done allot better with the rest of the lineup.

The Excalibur is the only one I'd own.

Just remember, you can paint away that blue, but Polane T can't help poor design.

After actually shooting my Cooper,I find the stock design very comfortable, and very effective at reducing felt recoil. But I guess that you can't tell that just from looking at a stock.:D
