Coouie model 82

Have a model 82 with surface rust, dings and paint blocks on the stock. Would like to refinish. Looking for advice.
1. Is the barrel on a model 82 painted or blued also the bands holding the barrell same?
2. Should I cold blue?
3.stock wood type?
4. Stripper and stain?

I refinished a Cooey Model 82 with a refinishing "kit" purchased at a sporting goods store. Took it apart, cleaned it up, re-blued the barrel, refinished the stock. Came out great. Nothing to worry about. A treasured piece of Canadiana. Likely there are youtube vids to help also.

If your Cooey 82 is military issue, you might want to think twice about refinishing it. It could wind up being worth less after you have put the time, effort and expense into refinishing.

Exactly what tiriaq says.

I picked one up last year one the cheap side.
No raving beauty, but not so to hert me feelings.
Slathered in Fliud Film and took after it with a tewf brush and 0000 steel wool.
Looks great.
Shoots better’n it looks.
