Copper primers...

Winchester primers.
I suspect it's to cut costs or speed up production by skipping the nickle plating when the reloading supplies market gets overheated.

Winchester have always been made of unplanted brass.

These are all PMC from maybe 15-20 years ago. 1f range brass, not reloads.
Had this large bucket for a while and finally sorting it all. Lots of WCC, some IVI from the early '90s, majority is mil brass.

I shot thousands of nickel plated Winchester large rifle primers for decades, only recently have I started using the gold colour ones with my new box of 1000. WK

I've seen copper shotshell primers but not rifle/pistol. Odd.

Unplated primers are brass; same as the cases. Those look like copper, not brass.

Me too, 8 1/2-120's. Still have some older reloads here with those primers still in them and they still work just fine.

Copper was a thing aways back. Right around the Little Big Horn.

Only thing Google could teach me was Wolf did a run of standard SR in copper, that were cheap in the US $20/1000 and pretty low quality. So these might have been reloads.

I have seen them being used on 222 ammo. Don't remember the brand, but they do have different looking anvil as well. Instead of usual 3 prong anvil they use solid round one with just two holes through it.

Isn't just about all military brass loaded with brass coloured primers?

A couple of times over the years I have picked up quantities of brass primers. RWS and I think Winchester...
