Copperplated vs. Non-Copperplated 22 Bullets?

Ones copper plated and ones not. To be honest i don't know, I'm waiting to find the answer too. I suspect that the copper plate will give it a smoother finish thus decreasing the air resistance. While non copper plated don't have a smooth finish. That's just my guess, and price is another, just my common sense, not the best but.... eh...
No is the short answer. Generally speaking, the unplated stuff is relegated to standard velocity offerings [there are exceptions] while many HV offerings are plated. The copper plating acts a bit like a lubricant in it's own right, and is much cleaner if you are packing it around, since most lubes on plain lead bullets attract all sorts of debris. All serious target ammo is unplated and lubricated. Regards, Eagleye.
With my S&W K-22, ammunition with plated bullets is noticeably better in terms of fouling buildup in the chambers and lead accumulation on the cylinder face. I can shoot it a lot more before extraction of fired cases becomes difficult and I have to clean it.

Not going to make much difference on that score. The plating on most rounds is probably a lot less than a thousandths of an inch. Its just electroplated on. I've had the copper wear off just by walking around for a couple hours with the shells in my pocket. Might be a bit thicker on the high velocity stuff but still not enough to stop splatter when they hit a backstop.
.22 mags use a proper jacketed bullet due to the higher velocity. The copper plating on .22lr is pretty well only going to have an effect on internal ballistics and feeding issues.
the first shot or 2 after your rifle has been sitng awhile will be a flyer with the lubed ones. no biggie when tatget shooting. the copper plated ones seemes to be bang on
when your gun sits over night. very important when
the first shot must count. thats been my experiance.
i figure the lube and powder residue must react after
sitting a while and cause the flyer.
When it acclimatizes the barrel to a specific brand of ammo, and when it covers up some of the barrel imperfections, it's great.

Can anybody explain to my thickhead a little bit more about this topic.
I recently purchased a higher end rimfire and it's owners manual advises not to chuck any copper plated bullets down the bore.

copper plated. i looked at the history of cooper and
i e-mailed them and asked why they don't recomend
copper plated bullets. will post when and if they do reply.

I don't know why you guys say "plated" as it's more like "coated". I think even on most of the boxes for ammo it says "copper washed".
Not to nit pick or anything, but it gives the impression that they have a thick plating on them that helps with penetration like a full metal jacket.

I've always used copper coated bullets in my semi's because I thought they fed better with less jams. I don't really know if there's any factual truth to this though as I can't remember the last time I shot non-copper coated ones.
