Heya!

Been running my CZ in 3-gun and have been toying with the idea of getting a .223 AR for competing. Anyone have a CORE15 rifle or have any opinions on them?

Are they worth it or should I just get a real AR for a few bucks more? I'm not even considering a Norinco cause I just haven't been impressed at all with the fit/finish on their AR's. I'm more or less looking for a good shooter, but not a tack driving tech'd out spec ops rifle. I'd be getting a gas version not a piston version too. I'm not a fan of modified bolt actions and it wasn't originally designed to run as a piston system.

Cheers!

Im not a SME on AR's but I am almost certain Core 15's are "real AR's."

Go check out the threads in Wanstalls sub-forum. Theres some good info there.

I, too, was impressed with the fit/finish. Had my hands all over one about a month ago at Calgary Shooting Center. Just want some feedback on the internals. If they are the real deal and basically just a mil-spec with a different stamp then I'd be happy with it for sure, :D

i have the basic DI model from wanstalls and it works perfectly. So far around 500 rounds through it and not a single problem.
Why pay at least $500 more for other brands of AR while you can get a Core15 Ar15 and be happy with it?

Guns&Weapons for Law Enforcement did a review and it was well received. I think, IMO for the money you can't go wrong, in some cases there product is above "mil spec" according to the article. The guy running the show has 20yrs of experience in the machining environment. If you get it with the Magpul upgrades your already ahead of the game. My other choice would be a Daniel Defence product.

Don't be afraid of the Arms Arms version, spend some time on the internet/forums with owners/operator and you'll see it has a high reliability rate, and very good customer
satisfaction. I own a Adams Arms upper. Now don't confuse this with which is better, that's a whole different ball game.

The fit and finish of the Core's are right up there with all the "high end" manufacturers. As others have mentioned, these are manufactured to Mil-Spec standards or above.

I've had the M4 Tac (DI) model for about 4 months now and have run approx. 1,000 rounds through it without so much as a hiccup (not good for testing my malfunction clearing capabilities :) ). Also, I'm extremely pleased with the accuracy (only using cheap AE233J).

If you have any specific questions I would be happy to answer them for you.

PS. Gary at Wanstall's is also a great resource!

Anyone have a piston version with any QC analysis to contribute? I'd much rather stick with piston vs DI due to my familiarity with how it works compared to a gasser... I think I'm pretty settled on the plain Jane M4 in piston due to how I would like to dress it up specifically for 3 gun. Pretty much everything that's going to go in it I already have. CTR stock, 1-6x24 scope, and a DD fore end. About the only other thing I would change is the grip and I'm not sure I would yet. Would need to shoot it some and decide from there.

have the core15 MOE Piston. Shoots great. accurate as hell and have had at least 1500 rounds through it without issue. Can't go wrong IMO

OK, so I looked at thier stuff(wanstalls) and I saw several different CORE15 rifles. They ranged between 1100 and 1700? Whats the difference?

Sorry for the newb question, I'm, well a newb, at least as it comes to AR platforms

For that price I'd go Daniel Defense V5. Magpul bits, DD forend, the fact that it's Daniel Defense.... Nothing against CORE personally though and I'm sure they are awesome rifles.

I picked up a Core 15 Base Piston this spring and have been extremely happy with it. Only ~400 rounds through it so far but it has been great! I no longer miss my old Colt A2! :)
