CORE15 AR's - Opinions please!

Sounds like a nice setup. Hope you have it up and running for the next 3 gun match. With that nice upper and lower you will want to replace the DPMS trigger...they suck. Replaced my DPMS trigger with the Geiselle SSA-E and it made a world of difference.

You know I had it out a while back with Dr.Lector about the Geiselle vs Timney trigger. Now I am sporting a Timney so I guess this should tell you who was right. But don't let him know cause his ego already is way too big.

Hi there,
Here is my story..
First of all I am not a big fan of .223 caliber(either as of any super/puper/magnum/antitank ones) but , nevertheless ,sometime ago I start thinking about AR15 ... as of a great choice of classic , time proven with long and up to day military service , easy customized and still not prohibited here ...
After long time research and comparison price/value/service dilemma I decided to go with piston driven , 1/7 or 1/8 twist and manufacturer life warranty product .
Not a secret that our Canadian market offer you much less options for more money than our south neighbor do. So , my choice was finally limited to two models . First - Stag Arms , model 8R for $1645.00 and second - Core 15 M4 Piston for $1399.00 . Both rifles of very high quality and offer you great product. Putting aside a price difference , I was more attracted by Core 15 not just because of its time proven Adams Arms Piston system (factory installed) but also this came with more versatile 1/8 twist in a polygonal SS match grade barrel . The bolt carrier on CORE15 also was treated with melonite coating which is much better than even hard chrome one. Yesterday I spent about 5 hours at the Silverdale range sighting and shooting different ammo from 50 to 200 yards. I put down the range a bit more than 200 rnds of differ ammo , starting with 55grn MFC HP then 62grn M855 and finishing with Hornady 75grnBTHP . The piston system allow you to adjust it depending on a ammo you use from standard then low recoil (used mostly for suppressors) , locked ( single shot ) and disassemble position . All ammo works perfectly for both , standard and low recoil setting . In low recoil setting , when I was using 55grn cheap MFC ammo , I was prepared for FTE or FTF but system cycling just perfectly . Only difference , with low recoil settings that empty cartridge fly about 5-6 foot away instead to 9-10 with standard mode . And , by the way , that is very easy to switch selector from one mode to another.
Most of the time I spent on a 100 yards range and with open sights and that was easy to keep all shots close to 2MOA with 55gr MFC and 1,5 MOA with 75 gr Hornady.
200 yards result was about 3MOA with Hornady and close to 6MOA with 55grn MFC. No optic used. Most of all I was surprised at home when start cleaning the rifle.
The piston itself was pretty much dirty in a upper part close to selector area. But take it off clean and put it back , took an exact 2 min for me. Next I went to receiver , BCG and bolt itself . Shoul tell you that it was very hard to say that rifle spent almost a day at the range . All I was need to do that only to wipe it out with CPL and that is it.
Here I also need to mentioned a great service that I got from Wanstalls . When I put an order for this rifle I also booked a set of MOE MagPul accessories . That happened a such way that Magpul stock i got was for a mil-spec but the stock tube on my CORE15 was a commercial one . When I told to Wanstalls about , they were so nice to sent me a new mil-spec tube free of charge and I got it just in three days . Only question left that is what to do now with my old one :)
So , here is some pictures of my new CORE15 and only one thing I am still waiting in a mail to change , that is handguard . This one also going to be ODG MagPul one..
I am very happy with this rifle overall and would definitely recommend it to
anybody who looking for high quality , long lasting and pleasure not
only to shoot but also to keep in hands product.

Neither am I... The jump to some thing smaller than 7.62x39 other than a rimfire for me is specifically for 3 gun competition, :D

It seems only the Core piston system ones come with the SS barrel. I'm going to guess that's to counter the loss of accuracy with a conventional piston system. It's actually a fairly easy and straight forward way to try and eliminate this disadvantage over a DI AR rifle. Of course the same barrel in the DI rifle would be interesting.

Hi there,
Here is my story..

Very nice review. Neutral and very informative. Congrads on your new AR.
I had been trying to buy this one too but it was always out of stock when I was looking at my 2nd AR.
I like the polygonal rifling SS barrel as well.
