Core15 trouble out of the box

I just tried for the first time ever yesterday my brand new Core15 M4 MOE direct impigment rifle... I have it since three months but didn't had any time to try it before.

The rifle was gently lubed (all the bcg internal parts, charging handle), fired 140 round of winchester white box 55gr with 7 brand new Magpul magazines, had about near 10 extraction-ejection-double feed problem so I'm a little pissed of about all that.

I earded about short strocking on new rifle, some need a break in period, sometimes problem with low powered rounds... any clue? I was shooting on a bench rest (sand bag) so my position was solid as rock.

Gonna try Federal ammo next time. Hope some cleaning a lubing a second time will resolve the issue for me. I still love my rifle, I can forgive as it was it's first time at the range... but I'm the kind of guy "fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me" so before I throw it in fire I'm gonna let it a second chance lol.

I never had any issue with my Glock... so it feel strange and I don't like this feeling! I left a message to Wanstall about all that...

To clarify;

It's not ejecting the rounds but it's stripping a new one from the magazine?

Is the ammo you're using the hollow point stuff or is it full metal jacket?

Yep
One time not extracting with one feeding, most of the time that a problem occured extracting (or parcially) but not ejecting with a new round trying to feed.

So it's not pulling the round out of the chamber but it is cycling far enough back to strip a new round from the magazine? Does it look like it's 'tearing' at the rim on the case?

I did not looked at the case :onCrack:

The problem was random... most of the case was pulled from the chamber but did not enought to exit the upper and stayed inside... to what it seems.

I'm new to rifle so I'm a noob with troubleshooting :confused:
 
Clean the chamber and lugs. Then throughly lube the bolt and lugs so they look wet. Use commercial ammunition, and make sure the stock is tight into your shoulder. If it still fails bring it back.

Lube it so its literally dripping wet, thats how I run my AR and its had 300+ round sthrough it with zero issues.

then if you still have issues after that, return it for warranty.
 
Winchester white box 55gr rounds are hot enough and I've used it for breaking-in my R-15 with good results. So to speak, I believe it's not the ammo issue. I would function check the extraction with dummy rounds, by racking the charging handle until you empty the magazine and see how it works. If the extraction is not an issue, it might be gas key/tube alighment, gas rings, FSB gas hole under sized etc. Lets other experienced AR owners check yours is another way to troubleshoot the problems.
 
An AR shouldn't have to be soaked in a bucket of oil to run properly. If it does, there's something 'wrong'. I can put 1-2000 rounds through mine with minimal lube and it runs like a Swiss watch. Unless you're running dirty ammo or perhaps in the desert you don't need much lube.

You never answered if the ammo was hollow point or FMJ. Is the bolt stopping behind the next round or on top of the next round?

Next time you're out, load one round in the mag, fire it and see if the bolt locks open. If not it's probably short stroking and has an issue with the gas port size, or alignment. Send it back.

If it does lock back, you might have an issue with your extractor spring (might need one of those donut washer do-dads) or maybe ejector. You could send it back but it's an easy fix.

There is a slight chance it's over gassed, but I doubt it.
 
1st step: blame NEA

then look at all the cases you shot next time and check the bottom of the case, where the extractor grabs it, and look for obvious marks left by the extractor/ejector.

you likely need a new extractor/ejector, if not a new bolt, depending on which part is out of spec


you should NOT have to run the thing soaking wet with lube, that is not how a rifle should have to be to function, many bolt carrier groups do the problem you mention, mine and a lot of others norincos have done it, and plenty of vulcans, cores, and I have even had this with a daniel defence BCG.

if the cases are marked after you fire them along the extractor lip on the bottom of the shell, then thats your problem.
