corrosive ammo in norinco m14

So it was made in a Czech factory for whatever country's army, spent decades in storage and was discarded for cheap after. Right?

Bingo! You win the prize. From the information I have gathered, that is exactly the story I have been given too.
It was Surplus to someones needs.
It definatly has corrosive primers too.

Shoot corrosive all you want, just make sure you give it a nice cleaning after that. As somebody stated, boiling water follow by your regular cleaning procedures will get the job done just fine.

Don't even the need to boil it. Just hot tap water run through the barrel, gas system and parts if you like. Clean normally with Hoppe's, CLP and put it away. Been doing that for over 20 yrs and no rust yet.

One time I did forget to unscrew the gas plug after shooting what I thought was not corrosive. A year later [yes I know, shame on me] I found that plug was awfully tight. Got it off and found a slight bit of corrosion to the piston and gas plug. A little steel wool and Hoppes and back in business. It's hard to fault the M14.

Get the Czech corrosive while you can, won't be around long.

i have norinco m14 and i have a bunch of 308 surplus that is corrosive was wondering if i should use it in this gun

I can't think of a better rifle to use it in.

Thank you for your input, good to know.

I prefer boiling water to leave the gun dry until I clean it a few/24 hours later. If you really do it right away, no big deal.

Spray some wd40 down it and it's fine. No monkey business with boiling water and waiting for the planets to align.

When ever I shot corrosive amo in my sks I used windex glass cleaner to clean it followed with a light oiling. Do the same with my black powder revolver. Havent had any problems yet.
