corrosive ammunition

Just kidding.

With my SKS I just boil a pot of water, strip the gun down and pour the boiling water over & in everything. Reassemble & oil. Didn't do it for a couple days the first time, and there was light rust.

LOL wow, a brought back from the dead thread(2006) WOW, I luv it. So since I was not here in 2006, I will post now lol

I got this from a great gunNut (thanks P.P!!) Its works great to flush the barrel with boiling water.

I did the water and/or windez thing a few times, then realised that normal cleaning works just as well. I just keep everything oiled up before putting the gun in the safe, wipe it off just before I head out to the range.

for my sks I strip it down and clean as normal(hoppes9 and/or clp)
Every 500 or so rounds I clean with near boiling water and some dish soap.
so far, so good

I apologize for my ignorance in advance as I have not purchased any factory ammo for many moons and don’t shoot an SKS.

It appears that the corrosive ammo is a pain when you come around to clean your rifle and yet there is still a risk of corrosion/rust. Why are you still buying them?

For the people in lower mainland BC - what part of the lower mainland do toy live in that has "low humidity?" :p

Vancouver has low humidity because we have low temperatures. Try any city on the eastern seaboard from Toronto to Houston for REAL Humidity!
