Hi i was thinking of picking up one of the norinco m4's then it dawned on me. I live in an appartment and have no where to clean off the cosmo here. I can't do it at work since it's restricted. So the question is do the norinco m4s
come coated in cosmo?

Do you have a bath? Hot water, some dish soap cleaner, a soft brush and oil to treat everything afterwards and you're good to go.

Dish soap and a good pot scrubbing brush works really well, that and hot water. I would wash all the parts this way and re-assemble and put on whatever lube you like to use for your AR15.
Just my two cents..

Strip it, scrub it clean with the solvent of your choice, ones like SimpleGreen are non-toxic, lubricate as appropriate, and reassemble.
It is no big deal, just takes a bit of time.

no cosmo on the M4's. I sprayed mine down with CLP and went at it with rags until the that heavy/ smelly oil came off.

Yeah the bath tub wouldn't work at this place. The landlord would eat my soul considering i've already had to buy a sink after my solvents ate the finish off of the sink. :) However if it's just a heavier oil and not a grease a can of brake clean and a few pans should do it. Thanks guys

I'd go with simple green, brake clean will instantly remove all of the paint. Simple Green will get the goo but leave the paint (and it won't hurt the sink/tub) It's actually a pretty strong degreaser used straight from the bottle, and it won't dilute pigments (carpet, towels).

pans are rather expensive , get a tupperware bin from crappytire, or home da POT. that way when you go to cook. you dont have to worry . btw i picked up a rather large tupperware thingy about 36inches long and 15inches wide for about 7 dollars ...
and simple green all the way .i add a little bit to my tub with hot water in it. let er sit for a little bit and by the time u can stick you hands in the water. your good to start "rubbin" sorry if i dont make sense i just did some cleanin myself and the fumes have hit me a bit.

Oh by pans i mean gigantic versions of those tin pans you get takeout in. I can get 3 of them big enough to fit a lower receiver in at the dollar store. Than i throw em out with all the dirty stuff so i don't have to store it.

I always use Outers's Crud Cutter Cleaner/Degreaser. You can find it in Canadian Tire and Lebaron. The price is usually lower in Lebaron.
