Cosmoline

I've just been cleaning up my '43 Lee Enfield and found those household steam cleaners are absolutely amazing at blowing the cosmo right off the metal. I used it as well on the wood, again with fantastic results and really left the stocks a lot drier with a quick wipe after spraying than with the soapy water method. (they had been left for long periods in the sun to leach out most of the crud before hand) Once I do the '50 and put a fresh coat of oil in the stocks I'll post pics.

The british solution is.....wizard ammonia....no water....on metal......hot water on wood....let dry. spray metal with WD40......It is the clean way to do it...
