Have an old 9.3 x57 that I would like to have redone in 9.3 x62. Would also like the barrel shortened for a nice bush gun for deer.

Are there any feeding problems or cons to this?

Do not really know what is involved in redoing the rifle in 9.3x62, shortening the barrel and the cost.

Would appreciate anyone's comments or gunsmiths that can do this.

Thanks

There was no problem doing this conversion when I checked last fall.
Martini&Hagn have the reamer but I would check with Ron Smith first as he is very affordable and does very good barrel work. Not sure he has that reamer.

The reciever rails should be fine for feeding.

Why? If you're just looking for a 'bush deer gun' then why go through the hassle? And after you do, the x62's will never feed as well as the x57's anyway (though it should still feed ok)

I'm assuming your rifle is some sort of Mauser.

I doubt feeding would be a problem. I recently built a 9.3X82 on a 1908 Brazilian Mauser that started its life as a 7X57. Absolutely zero work was required on the action or mag and it feeds like a dog slurping sausages. The standard OAL of the 9.3X62 is 3.29" so it will fit in most Mauser magazine wells.

I believe Bits of Pieces has the reamer and, according to their website, they charge $110 for rechambering and $40 to cut and crown a barrel.
