So I acquired a 1918 NRF Lee Enfield as a restoration project a few months back. Typical sporter, but the barrel isnt cut down and its not drilled or tapped. Seems like a good candidate. It will need new everything though ( Except for barrel, action, mag and bolt). The wood is all sportered, even the buttstock.

Just wondering what the approximate cost of doing this full restoration is. I know it depends what kind of deal you find on parts, but maybe a ball park idea from someone else who has done this before? I am thinking of selling it due to lack of time and cash, but Id really prefer to keep and restore it.

Thanks

It can get expensive..I did one 2 years ago and it cost between 400-500 for the wood ,bands screws and all the other bits.

Yep, $300 (at least) for a decent set of wood (if you can find a decent set) then $100-150 for the remainder....I've restored a couple of No1's but not doing anymore.

Wow thats alot more than I assumed when I bought this project. Ill have to strongly consider if I want to keep it or not now.

Everything is test fitted on this. Started out similar to yours...$400 so far and that is buying from multiple sources from CGN and US. I am enjoying it but I will not do it again as it would be cheaper to wait for a good price complete rifle.

To restore a No1 MkIII* to as close to original as you can get, $100.00 for the barrelled action, mag and bolt.If If you're lucky you might get a good butt with the deal.Add $150.00 for the other wood and $50.00 for all the metal bits. That is on a good day.If you have a hard-on to restore you could pay double that.

Man that's a beauty though. I see one screw missing towards the centre, what else is still missing?

Thanks. The missing screw is for a volley sight. On the other side is a cut out for it. I plan to make a wooden delete for both sides to remove that feature. Whether original or repro, volley sights are too pricey for me...and hard to find.

Well, either way, it's a beauty. How does it shoot? The lowest line on the rear sight is 200m (yards?), isn't it? How high does it shoot at 100m?

PS: You saying volley sights were expensive made me curious. Don't know how much you've invested/are willing to invest, but one of the first places I found has repro front volley sights for US$55, rear volley for $22. LINK Front Link Rear

Thanks for the link. Numrich is good to deal with but their extra handling fee ups the cost of things. Volley sights are neat but I'm not really interested enought to add another $100 to the build.

Haven't had it to the range yet. Hope to take it out soon though.

I'm into mine 110 dollars including wood and the gun.. Need some hardware still but I'm shooting to close at under 120 dollars, mines a no 4 though. I have a pretty good connection.. He has even had p14 and p17 full stocks through recently .. Didn't even bothering what he had on them .. Probably cost you a first born. I remember not to long ago he manages to un bubba a Ross aswell

I got my wood and metal pretty cheap from springfield sporters in the U.S. If you pm me I can likely hook you up with a buttstock if you pay the shipping.
