cost of a round of clays ?

Well we have that type of facility, 1400 members. We throw a average of 74 rounds of sporting clays a week not to mention trap, skeet and five stand. As I said above our club has grown beyond our expectations in the last five years. Some of our big shoots attract well over a hundred shooters. We had seven large shoots last year in sporting clays ( the Canadian Open Sporting clays chapionship is the longest running sporting clays shoot in Canada , twenty Years this year), three in skeet ,two in trap shoots and a few rifle competitions. Our club is the Oshawa Skeet & Gun Club, look us up. We are expecting a better year this coming year as interest in our club been overwhelming.

I’m not saying it’s impossible, but facilities like that are rare in Canada.

I’m sure HGC and T.IT.S aren’t much different? The Family Fair shoot each January right after new years at HGC is usually the largest attended trap shoot in Ontario with most years seeing between about 200 - 300 shooters.

The Family Fair had 84 shooters this year.

Gun clubs in Ontario are almost all growing. We have seen a lot of young folks taking up the shooting sports. IMHO, they seem to be more interested in handguns and black rifles than clay targets. I believe this single "fact" has saved us from an onslaught from the liberals trying to slap us with some new regulations and restrictions.

Wow! What a drop in attendance at Family Fair. Was it the weather? I thought a few of my buddies from the Sturgeon Falls club attended? Or maybe it was the year before?

The numbers have been dropping for years, Frank. There used to be six teams of 6 shooters go from Oxford County some years back and this year there were two teams. The weather was not pleasant, to say the least.

Run by some very dedicated volunteers as I understand, everything is run at cost, new building/range construction raised by donations, also one of the cheapest memberships around Winnipeg for that reason (Family membership is $85/year) I help out there whenever I can during the spring/summer months.
