Moncton Gun Club

Annual Membership $150

Round Rate for members $5/Round of 25 targets Trap/Skeet/5-Stand

Round Rate for Non-Members $6/Round plus $5/day for guest insurance.

It all comes down to what your input costs are and what your expected level of profit is. We typically buy 630 cases at 10.60 a case plus GST and 500 shipping. Our total cost is $8,686.74. This gives us 85,050 targets to sell. We reduce this number by 10% for breakage, to 76545 targets. This means our cost per target is 11.3 cents. So our cost for a round of skeet is $2.83. We aim to make 100% profit on shooting, so our target price is $5.65. So, we sell 15 and 30 round prepaid cards for $5 per round, or $6 cash for members. Visitors shoot at the member cash rate for the first 5 rounds, then pay $7.50 if the do not take out a membership. Membership is $125, 40 of which is insurance (OFAH). That being said, we are a small, low overhead club with no paid staff. 630 cases lasts us 2 years.

That is a great target price per case. We pay close to 50% more.

Annapolis Valley Shooting Sports Club, in NS.
Trap, skeet, or 5 stand is $5.00/25 targets for members and guests. Membership is $150/yr., or $200 for family.

I used to shoot out of Guelph rod and gun as a guest. If I remember right it was 10$ for a round (25 clays). Just a trap range though. Memberships were around 300$ per year with 5$ rounds.......but this was 5 years ago

Interesting to hear the present costs at various clubs. Definitely costs have risen over the years, but over all the clay target sports are still away cheaper than golf. Plus away more exciting in my opinion.

It's interesting to see that some clubs in Ontario are still selling targets well below the cost of managing a club. I know that most clubs are non-profit and a lot of the work to run them is done by volunteer's, but those days are coming to a end faster with each passing year. The club I belong to and run throws well over a million and a half targets a year and we have to charge $6.00 for skeet, trap and Five stand for 25 targets. Our sporting clays is $35.00 for 110 targets. Our members feel that this is reasonable as we pay staff to do all of the work around the club. Our members just come out to shoot and socialize.
The cost of targets should always reflect the costs associated with the throwing of targets. These major factors are; Target cost, machine and field maintenance, machine costs(replacement) and to some extent administration cost. Today's club shooter does not have the time to donate to the club as they have in the past. We have done some survey's to try to get a understanding of what our members would like to see in going forward with future planning of our club. It has given us the opportunity to progress in the last five years beyond our expectations. This formula has work for us and it would be in every clubs best interest to see what their cost are and manage their target sales accordingly.
Oh by the way target cost just went up %15 as of January 31 2018.

Still very reasonable prices for a club with staff and no expectations to volunteer.

That is obviously a formula that works for your club and throwing 1.5 million targets per year must mean you guys are open 7 days per week year round. That would definitely make it easy to find staff since you can offer full time employment to some as opposed to a small club like our local club which is open one night per week from 1st of May until end of September and MIGHT throw 250 cases of targets including two annual registered ATA shoots per season. There is no other way to run the club except by volunteers. I wish we had a club like yours available. I have only had that experience when travelling to shoots at the larger clubs hours away.

Our club is in a small city with an accordingly small number of shooters. As such, there is no way that we can afford to hire staff to operate the facility, and to maintain the equipment. As such the same few people mow the grass, run the throwers, repair whatever we can , and do our financial statements. Luckily our group of volunteers includes an electrician, a millwright, a machinist, a mechanic, and an accountant. Local businesses also give us good deals on the equipment that we need to buy, and we are able to keep operational. We charge $5 per round for everyone, and everyone pays the same annual membership of $130.

1.5mill a year is 164, 25clay games per day... less breakages and additional clays.

Ours is 100% volunteer. Up to three times a week during the summer. 4$/round

That is not undoable when you consider that just the ATA trapshooters alone shoot at over 2,000,000 targets at The Grand American Trap Shoot at The World Shooting Complex in Sparta, Illinois each August over a two week time period!!!
