i have a question regarding the cost of firearms
for example. let's take the glock 17
the dealers sell it for 650-700$
what's the cost on them? what kind of mark up are we looking at?

im not looking for exact numbers. I would just like to get an idea

most of these are private companies, so you'll never get any financials from which to deduce the profit margins. and whose cost are you talking about - the canadian retailer, the north american distributor, or the original factory? between the factory and your hands, there's probably 3-5 sets of hands each trying to make a buck (or ten).

FYI, in the handful of industries i've seen, the accessories typically have an 80% GPM when you're at the cash register picking it up. that means a $100 part only costs $20 at most, the rest is pocketable profits.

The average fair price for a G17 3rd gen in very good condition with 300 rnds max goes for about $620 including shipping. This price I am estimating from the EE forum. If you pay attention you may be able to get one for $550 in good condition from a guy that needs money asap.

i was thinking about the big stores like the sponsors here
around what price do they get it at?
it looks like theres about 100$ difference between different dealers for the same item

Would be interesting to know. I imagine like all retail it can vary a good bit from outlet to outlet. I have seen the same pistol (not Glock) from two different dealers with a price difference of $300.

well, all the dealers would be sourcing from the same canadian distributor. for the sake of simplicity, assume that the market is only sufficiently large for one distributor for any one brand for all of canada. the dealers all buy from him, but not all at the same price. they each have their volumes and likely get pricing commensurate with the volumes they push through. "distributor" doesn't automatically mean "everyone pays the same price". so one retailer could be pushing less volume and therefore has to buy at a higher price, like +$70. so they charge you the consumer +$100 to make that up and still make a few bucks.

I might be looking to sell mine! PM me if you like. I am not looking to make money off this deal, just need to pay some bills, and just bought a CZ 75!

If you want to get a good price don`t waste your money getting one from a dealer, get one from a cgner on a good price. It may have a couple rnds throught but your gonna see a difference in price from dealers to gently used pistols here on cgn. A glock with a couple hundred rnds is still a virgin. These pistols can take a lot on.

Sporteque sells for $550 normally... or is that the LEO price advertised on the website?

I went on their site and its listed for $621.49 GST+PST and I would expect thats before shipping and HST.

Its absolutely not a bad price overall for a new G17.

Sporteque posts prices with GST and PST (for Quebec). Underneath is the non-tax price.

I always lol when someone post one for 650-700$. Come on, Sporteque sells them for 550 brand spanking new in box! They even had the Gen 4 for cheaper (530 if I remember correctly; not listed anymore, sold like hot pancakes).

so what you're saying is that not only is the Canadian government screwing over gun owners, but other gun owners are looking to screw over other gun owners as well (cuz, ya know, guns are illegal and hard to come by in Canad'uh, eh?)

i've poked my head into the EE once or twice, and sometimes i also roll my eyes when i see the prices people are asking for stuff.
