Cost per round ?

Sounds wonderful.

No need to ponder the membership rates have a look at the sponsor board.

We have been lucky to have some very good business managers involved in our club over the years, and many of them were Nationally and internationally ranked shooters of various disciplines.
It also helps that many of these management types worked fr Syncrude and Suncor, but we also have hosted ( and got fuding from the Provincial and National organizations) to host big shoots like the Summer games, Provincial Championships of various disciplines and the Arctic Winter Games as well.
However, the membership themselves do the work, the club would not function without members, which is one reason that we do not have a sporting clays course - without members to a actually shoot on it and maintain it, it is a waste of resources. Our weekend trap and skeet squads are small compared to many clubs down south .

FMFGA used to do casinos, but we also applied for and received two six figure grants for range improvements. We did apply for a third, and were approved for $110k for a 10 station sporting clays field, but when I retired and left, nobody was willing to take over the project, so it never happened. The current membership fee is $250, not overly expensive for the use of such a facility. As well as everything already mentioned by ironcat, it also offers an indoor range in the basement of the club house, a 1000m range, 9 handgun bays, and the clubhouse is air conditioned.

We still do casinos, as well as charging a fee to various Law Enforcement , Brinks, and other outfits to use our range for their qualifications, as well ans trainig contracors for things like PAL courses, and various pistol and rifle courses.

We rent to law enforcement, Brinks, F&W and Canada Customs as well, and IPSC events are great sources on income, IPSC can bring a few thousand per day to a club. Multiple discipline facilities have many more avenues to raise revenue than a shotgun only facility,

It's amazing how many IPSC shooters come up here from the south for a points shoot because the numbers fill up so fast at the southern matches .

We rent to law enforcement for qualifying as well but it’s kind of hit and miss as far as regularity goes and therefore amounts to a very small portion of the club income. This club is licensed for rifle and pistol but it’s primarily a shotgun club and hold several trap and sporting clays shoots each year as well as a trap league and sporting clays league.
The point that I was trying to make is that even though day to day operating expenses need to be covered by range use there are other avenues to obtain capital for the the bigger ticket items which will allow clubs to sell range use and hold shoots at a more affordable rate for members.
Unfortunately income is not the biggest problem that most clubs face, getting members to volunteer time is the most major obsticle holding a lot of clubs from making the most of their facilities.

Our rentals are very consistent, and actually growing, as range access is very limited in this area. Canada Customs is our latest addition, and they were happy to find an action range so close. We are an all discipline range, and the shotgun disciplines attract the minority of interest, mostly from our senior members. The skeet range usually has 10-12 shooters and the trap range doesn't even operate every week, as most shooters prefer skeet. There are a half dozen that shoot every time, and another 20 or so people that don't show as often. On our own, the shotgun section would have a hard time paying expenses, but with all disciplines sharing costs, and the rentals/events bringing in cash, we are building revenue for future development.

Thunder Bay Trap & Skeet Club is $200 membership , $7.50 for a round (25) of Trap or Skeet and $15.00 for Sporting Clays (50).
No punch cards. No extra added fees. We may sell tickets next
year, to make it easier than to have make change , but as of right now we make change.

Hi there, member price at HGC is still at $7 for skeet and trap as of today. Two weeks ago it was a "test day" for these new clays....they seem to shatter more that pulverize (if that makes sense). The dome is also slightly higher.
I also heard about those Italian clays being cheaper....not sure when they will transition over.

Many here aren’t from Ontario, so we really have no idea what HGC is.
Hamilton Gun Club, perhaps?

Yesterday, I spent 652.05 for 1150 targets at Silver Willow (about 57 cents / target). They are used for all disciplines which makes for a pricey round on the skeet field but not so bad for the outstanding sporting facilities. Add in the not insignificant annual membership, and it adds up. That said it is a premium club, with great grounds, modern equipment, well maintained and well staffed with amicable people. Feels like family except you don't have to help with the dishes. ;)
