I have a Winchester 1300 that has been my beater gun for a few years, but I have been thinking about making a couple of modifications to it. I want to try an English-style stock, for jump shooting ducks. And if I'm going to shell out a bunch of money for nice walnut english stocks, it seems silly to keep the barrel and aluminum receiver spray painted.

What are my options for refinishing the barrel and aluminum? The finish has to be fairly durable, as the gun is sure to see hard use in salt marshes.

Parkerize it.

The 1300 at one point came with an English stock on the upland deluxe. I had one in 20g that I sold to a fella on here when I was hard up for $ and wish I could get it back but he said his bro confiscated it from him.

Upland deluxe was a slick gun loved it.

But the 20 used the same stocks as the 12 so it wast scaled to a 20g frame.

Use aluminum black on the receiver and hot blue the barrel
Aluminum Black varies in the color because of the type of aluminum
that the receiver is made of.
Use about five coats.

I refinished a mossberg 400 with aluminum receiver and used matte black Guncoat. Oven cured and very durable...
