Cost to Reload 308

I have reloaded for various calibres, starting with a LEE Loader for 30-30 c.1970. I love reloading and attest to Jethunter’s advice about stocking up when the opportunity arises. People on here talk about smoking $20 cigars, Corvette cars, trips to here and there, never mind $5000 rifles, etc.

Each to his/her own, however. I have no idea how much $ I have spent on firearms and related items, but I don’t really need to know either. I enjoy reloading, shooting, collecting, researching, and bs’ing about firearms and related subjects. I do buy store shotgun ammo with the exception of .410, which I reload for. Rimfire is also store bought.

I suspect this is true for many/most of us.

I just re-discovered 15000 Dominion primers I forgot I bought from Canada Ammo a few years ago. Didn't need them at the time but it was a good deal. Makes me feel downright clever now. :)

Brass can be costly, but .308 is generally free so I'd say it's a great cartridge to reload. Plus projectiles are easy to find even in a tight market. Get some cheap Canada ammo powder and you're good to go. If you can find primers ;)

Wise move. You should have bought their entire stock. I've got a measly 2000 of those and they're great!

You can get Speer hot cor 150’s for 37c a piece. And cheaper D4895 D2015 powder was available through Canada ammo. These are/were the best bang for you buck when assembling accurate 308 ammo IMO

My current load for 308 is:
Free brass from range
Own made Cast Bullet (Powder coated): $0.01
Primer: $0.05 (bought in bulk years ago)
Powder i'm using Unique ($46 taxes in at 9 gr): $0.06

Total cost $0.12 and getting under 1.5" groups
