Not even close to the same thing. That's just stupid.

I just purchased 1 8LB jug of 231 and 1 8LB jug of 296 today. In 2019 I paid $220 for 8LB's of 231 and $240 for 8 LB's of 296 compared to the $320 for 231 and $330 for 296 I paid today.

Silver box Winchester, blue box remington. Centre fire rifle ammo, low end stuff: $55-60 a box of 20.

Reloading, tailored to your specific rifle, even with premium bullets is half that. Plus it's specific to your rifle, and it's not sold out.

I'm not a high volume target guy. Don't shoot Thousands of rounds a year. I acquire a rifle, develop a purpose specific hunting load, load 1-200, go kill shet. Since I own, ....a few....rifles it can be years until I need to load for any specific rifle again.

Ammunition to a hunter is tiny money. Compare it to time off, or for a laugh, fuel

Target grade 22lr ammo hasn't really increased more than 10% in the last two years I'd say. I'm talking the $9-11 per box of 50rounds level ammo.
Precision rimfire is attractive.

...Except at gun-shows; up 25-50% (sometimes as much as 25% more than currently available brands in stores).

Powder availability has improved a lot; can't always get what we want, but we can get something that will work. Not great prices, but getting a bit better.

Projectiles, the same, but not as inflated price wise.

Primers are still hard to find at a good price, and large rifle hard to find, but recently can be found.



Yes, some factory ammo can be bought for less money than reloading; but I can still reload ammo the way I want.

Na it’s bad. Hodgdon 8 pounders have more than doubled in price since spring of 2020.
