See I just learned something there! Though I'm sure their muscle mass is quite a bit more than mine!
admittedly after two or three days of solid shooting of a 7.62 Carbine, I find it more in my back, you can rotate the arm to partially lock them out - then all the floating from movment is absorded in the knees and the back is balancing and taking recoil etc -- get sore.

There's more to ones stance than improved hits/score. If your stance doesn't allow rapid dynamic movement its inferior by design. Weaver stance comes to mind. The bladed stance is not natural and limits ones ability to move once the stance is achieved. Not to mention it does nothing for recoil control and for those who wear armor it does not maximize the coverage area facing the threat(s).
For many "what works best" translates into what they're comfortable with. The most effective methods aren't always the most comfortable and usually require a lot of repetitions and practice to become proficient.

My suggestion: Buy the Art of the Tactical Carbine DVDs. Costa and Haley discuss stances and grips and provide their opinions and explanations on what they have found works best for most.
I agree with TDC on that "what works best" is always the most effective. Training and repetition can make the initially uncomfortable very comfortable. Having said that, Costa and Haley mention that everyone is different and what works for them might not be the best for someone else. You have to take what they present and try to incorporate it best into your "toolbox" of skills.
I changed my grip and stance after watching the DVD and dry fire practicing almost everyday with it. I definitely noticed a big difference on the range in my recoil control and target transitioning.

I remember reading his second-for-second description of how it happened. My hats off to the gentleman for his service, and strength to push through. I have friends that got the short end of the stick from sporting accidents and let it all fall through the crack. Again, kudos. That, and I'm sure he could teach us all a thing or two about shooting and life.

We received our first shipment of SR-25 LW Match rifles and I must say they are very nice... test targets were very impressive as well (all the guns are SUB MOA) and that's without searching for the BEST ammo so it will be interesting to see what the "best" groups end up being.
I'm guessing these are capable of 1/3 to 1/2 MOA... but you'd probably know already
Also received the Triple Taps... can't wait to try mine out.

Our test ammo is Remington Match 175gr -- hardly the best 175gr out there.
My demo M110 SASS shoots in the 1/4MOA range with ATK M118LR and Mk318, and that barrel is near 8600 rds
My Battle Rifle is in the 1/2MOA range.
Admittedly not all of our guns are sub half MOA, but you won't see us ship an SR-25 that won't do under 1 MOA

Our initial purchase was actually on spec for US sale... we didn't really think we'd get export approval... but when we got approval we sold out quite quickly to Canadian buyers... the guns that arrived earlier this week were all sold before they ever got here. But we're putting together another importation so anyone interested can order now... Knights has them in production so delivery times are quite reasonable.
Knights actually brought the pricing down on these... they used to be several thousand dollars higher. Our Canadian price is $6,999.99
Compare that to the $11,000 to $12,000 that an Mk11 or an M110 would sell for and the SR-25 LW Match is practically a bargain
