Cougar/Bear Hunting Caliber?

As naive as I am, I have a feeling that the last 5-6 posters are not really talking about real cougars or real shot placement...etc.(I don't know. I could be wrong!) I just can't figure out how does looky fits into all this?!

It is not legal to use a rimfire to hunt cougar in BC.

I was out with one of the guides here in BC and his go to cougar gun is a .30-30
