I thought itd be kinda cool to have this in my display closet (which has a door knob lock) which i currently only use for long guns.
good? safe? legal?

Restricted and prohibited firearms

* Attach a secure locking device to the firearms; and
* Securely attach them to something that cannot be moved.
* For an automatic firearm, also remove the bolt or bolt carrier (if removable) and lock it in a separate room that is hard to break into.

so that means.. if i wanted too i could display a handgun in my room with such a device?

You can call this paranoia, but I live in the GTA and here it is stupid to display yer firearms. Why noy just say "steal my firearms"

You have people coming in your home looking in your closet or at your guns for that matter that you don't trust?

The device could be made to be legal but the storage is not.

Restricted firearms need a locked trigger guard AND a locked case/cabinet. Closets don't count.

Sorry, think you're wrong on this. He's talking about displaying, not storing (no practical difference I know, but the rules are different)...

"A restricted firearm can be displayed in a dwelling as long as it is unloaded, rendered inoperable by a secure locking device, securely attached to a non-movable structure that cannot easily be removed, and not within easy access to ammunition..."

Still living the single life. If you choose to get married you might well find yerself with nosy outlaws / inlaws who WILL snoop in yer closet and tell their friends what has been found. I stick to what I said. Opaque and locked box is the way to go, prefereably within a larger locked box or steel doored closet.
Damn outlaws.
