I have been thinking of selling my sks-d but i have no idea what its value would be with a few extras.I have a friend who is interested but i need to know a fair price. As stated, its a d model with a tapco stock new last year.I also have the original stock to go with it.There are 5 5/10 rd mags and 1 5/30 rd mag plus a case of norinco non-corrosive ammo that i bought about 16 years ago.I also have 80 or 100 rds of soft point hunting ammo from norinco. The gun is also a norinco.Should have mentioned that at the start.1000 rds through the gun.Any ideas on the value of everything together would be appreciated. Thanks

I saw an sks-d at Reliable. I believe they wanted $450 for the gun alone...

For the other stuff, just look up the new prices and knock off 20% or something like that.

i sold all 4 of my SKS-D thru EE .

1. SKS-D with bayo and 2 5rds and 1 30rds for $475 .

2. SKS-D no bayo attachment and 2 rds and 1 30rds for $425 .

no other accessory. about 500 rds down the barrels .

i CANT BELIEVE THE PRICES PPLE ARE PAYING FOR THESE THINGS. SPRING OF THIS YEAR MY BUDDY BOUGHT A 51 RUSSIAN OUT OF A SHOP FOR 175 BUCKS. ARE THE D MODELS ESPECIALLY COLLECTABLE AND THEREFORE COMMAND A HIGHER PRICE ?
I HAVE A TAPCO'D 51 RUSSIAN AND WITH 3 5/20 MAGS I COULDNT GET MORE THAN A COUPLE OF HUNDRED FOR IT, NOT THAT ITS FOR SALE...ITS TOOO MUCH FUN,FAR TOO RELIABLE AND CHEAP AS CHIPS TO FEED
GUESS THERES WAY MORE DISPOSABLE INCOME OUT WEST EH. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE 'D'S ARE VERY DIFFERENT IN ANY WAY AT ALL,I FIGURED A NORC WOULD NATURALLY BE LESS THAN AN ORIGINAL, BUT IVE BEEN WRONG MANY,MANY TIMES.

The D models take AK magazines... they are far more rare than pretty much any other SKS and, because they take the AK mags, people like them alot more. Its the one id want if I was ever to another SKS.

Thanks for the input , figured there would be a reason :)

Personally I wouldn't pay more than $350 for a -D. Have you seen the price of AK mags? Also, same capacity as the fixed mag but these you can't load from a stripper clip.

They're cool and all and I wouldn't mind adding one to my collection but not for the prices they're going for lately. A hundred bucks more would get you a gently used CZ858.

I wouldn't use the word 'rare'. They might seem less common, but the word 'rare' implies a certain collectible value based on limited supply. They aren't original military configuration firearms. They've been modified to take the AK mags, and their 'supply' is really open ended, since Chinese SKSs are plentiful and more could be modified at any time.

I don't venture into "red" section all that often...

I'm surprised at what the "d" models go for (all are Norinco). These are part of the "first wave" of SKS's to hit our nation. In that era, a 30rd magazine was cool, in our's it's prohibited.

These were re-worked in China for export. They sold cheaply (in the day) compared to other semi centerfires. In that era, "Red" meant the bad guys, so they had a bad name. Being "Chinese Red" certainly didn't help them much either.

Because Norinco quit modifying SKS's (late 80's? Early 90's?) in this fashion, the may have a collectible status...I bought a Ljungman at a local auction 25 years ago for 80$'s, and they couldn't get a bid on the SKS D. (hear that sound? That's me kicking m'self!!!!)

They do move quickly in the EE for 400+ now.

the $425 to $475 are dictated by supply and demand .

yes, the supply is open ended but its not like turning on a tap.

there is a start up cost associated with producing the SKS-D, cost of setting up the tooling out of monthball, the workers havent made these in decades so they need to be retrained to make guns and not moped parts .

the more we order the lower the average cost but unfortunately the canadian demand for SKS-D is too small to even meet mininum order required to sell it at a reasonable price .

if it was feasable , an importer would have done it long ago .
