Could it shoot 1" at 200 yrds?????

Question #2 like every one on this forum I shoot 20 shot groups at 800 metres through the same hole with a 22 lr off hand in heavy rain with a 50 mile cross wind, blind folded and hung over

Pfffff...thats NOTHING! You need to get an accurate rifle and learn to shoot!:p

Question #1 if it was 2" at 200 making it 1Moa it would not be accurate enough for its intended use.

:eek::eek::eek:

I know the old BARs are very accurate, but I haven't seen anyone shoot a new one yet. I hunt with an R1 and it won't shoot under 1" @100. I also have a new SXR that will shoot under 1" @100. The sxr is made by FN and I'm sure the new brownings are from the same place. Browning semi's are accurate rifles, and I'm sure the new ones are just as good as the old ones.

Hey me too! But only with my Cooey and Winchester Wildact ammo. Bedded it myself.

With a little load work up do you feel this gun could shoot 1" groups at 200 yards.
Short answer.........nope it most likely won't and with the semi action and two piece stock you're limited to any meaningful mods that will help with accuracy as well.
Nothing's impossible however but the odds are certainly against it.....

Buy a good bolt action. Then you can do all that neat stuff to it like bedding and floating and trigger fixin. Also depends on how good a shooter YOU are. Too many variables but all my hunters are levers or bolts. Only had one semi that was accurate-my first Cooey 64. My 1022 was a sprayer. I have a 9422 and a CZ452 that are tackdrivers. Nuf said. (except they are usually more reliable too)

This might come close; but I don't think it's available in .243...

A moose heart is about 8 inches by 5 inches. As long as it hits there at 200 yards I am good to go. If I miss that other vitals are close by ;). The best I have ever shot was a 20(I think) shot grouping of 8 inches at 300 yards with a FNC1A1. It was a fluke at best.

I shoot 3 shot groups with my hunting rifles. Is that what you are talking here or a 5 or 10 shot group? That will make a big difference. A 3 shot 1" group would be challenge enough.

With low power 2 1/2x to 5x scopes and a basic rest I make a fair number of 2 1/2" groups at 200yds - but only 3 shots - with my various hunting bolt 35cals with the best loads and conditions. Good enough for big game use IMO. Better glass, better shooter etc. etc. could whittle it down no doubt.

If that short trac semi will shoot more accurately than most it would make a good yote calling gun as Camo Cook suggested. I've been looking sideways at the Ruger Target Mini 14 for this purpose as some have reported it accurate too.

My problem is I have to take the blindfold off to hunt, and then my group size goes to hell all over the place.

I need to be able to hunt with it so most semis don't fly.

Tooner use the force keep the blind fold on.

Wanna bet I know of one that does! I think the venerable Jack O'Conner once said "only accurate guns are interesting".

1/2 miler! :D

Pretty sure that wasn't Jack O'Conner. Whelen was the one who made that observation if I recall correctly. It's in the sig of half of the guys on this site. Now if you want to discuss the 270 Jack was your guy...
