Well after a friend purchasing a Remington 700 BDL in the famed .222 Remington and having to listen to his glowing reports of accuracy and low muzzle blast.....well I could not resist getting one on the Tikka T3 Varminter platform. They have a stainless action and heavy 1:14 cold hammer forged barrel which has been reported to deliver super accuracy. I had a T3 S/S in 243 Win and sold it...since then ....well I kinda missed her. I guess I need to get some good dies (Redding collet neck die) and some IMR 3031 and H335 and see just what this little guy will do. The price was right so...what the hell! I've got a lot of over acheivers as far as speed goes...so the only thing that this was intended for was accuracy inside 200 yards. Here's hoping I won't be disappointed.

Hey Chilly, I have one as well, get some lapua brass IMR 4198 and 53 gr SMK flat base bullets Kiss the lands and you wil have as close to a BR gun as you will need.

These things will shoot!

You might want to try some W748 and those 53gr Sierra's flat bases like
Jason said they work very good, if you find any Lapua cases anywhere could you PM me

Thanks for the heads up on the Lapua brass...it's now on order! Norma makes it too. For those looking for some, Accuracy Plus in Peterborough ON is ordering mine in. Everything I've heard about this triple douce is that you can expect 1/4 MOA accuracy if you do your part. I'll be using it for target and varmint out to 200 yards and the Swift will take the longer walks.

I love my 222... you've made a great choice. Like a few other guys, I've had good luck with BLC2 and Win 748 over the years.

.222 Remington

about a year and a half ago I was at a gun show in St. Catherines and a gentleman had for sale a Remington 700 ADL in .222 , it was topped with a straight 12 X redfield scope with A/O , the rifle seemed to be in almost unused condition , and also 1973 vintage ( approx) I looked through the bore , very shiney , rifling grooves sharp , blueing about 98 % , wood and checkering 98 % too. Shouldered the rifle , came up easy and clean , jeweled bolt run through the action very smoothly , I remember thinking I could use an extra varmit rifle , so I made an offer , which he rejected , so at a slow pace I walked further down the line of tables , stopping to look at other things of interest . the hair on the back of my neck was standing up , so I turned to see what the eerie feeling was . It was the gentleman with his counter offer - which I accepted , forthwith ! Braught the rifle up to the club ( only had factory ammo ) and was very happy with the days results. From loading data , looks like 4198 powder is a winner with 50 gr., boattails ,worked up aload and waiting for the weather to get a bit better to try it out .good luck with your new 700 ...later....Joe
