I swear mine is off, A LOT. But i haven't had my hands on another unmodded M14s to see for myself. I can't see the sight being offset so much as normal. Thanks in advance.
The flash hiders and front sights are frequently pretty badly executed on Norcs; both of mine had issues. Email Marstar about it and they will take care of you.
Didn't buy it from Marstar, And everything looks fine but it where the front sight connects to the barrel\FH it doesn't sit in the middle. Looks like whoever built it forgot to line it up properly. RH side sticks out about 3\16" or so.
Haven't had a chance to do a serious accuracy test but I was hitting suspended popcans offhand at 50m. I was missing a lot to start though had 80 rounds downrange before I was hitting consistently. I imagine I began to compensate for the sight.
For some reason a lot of them came with the front site moved all the way over to one side, and staked in that position. I just loosened mine up and after centering the rear sight, tapped it about until I had it shooting dead center with the rear sight centred. Why they staked it in that offset position made no sense. They sure never fired it to determine the position.
That's all I needed to see, I knew Norinco's QC was very bad but it's obvious mine was thrown together as quick as possible. The two holes visible in your picture are lined up while mine are side by side.
Bit of an update, gave my front sight a couple taps with a rubber mallet and it's aligned properly ( i think). Didn't think it would be that easy of a fix.
