Coulee Classic Lethbridge Alberta

is the lethbridge range open all the time, or do they set up only every so often (like mossleigh)? I'd like to go down and try the course one day, but I'm not sure if I'll be home in time for this shoot.
sometimes open, between range shut downs for stray bullet landing on north lethbridge, and recently on school pr0perty.. actually the school wants it closed down. although bullets landing in school ground has not been proven,,,you may want to check before you attempt to shoot there, as the city wants them out of the of the city limits.. as the news papers stated .. just saying FYI.. :)

Glad you can make it Sapper. we're meeting this week to start the planing but here is some of the preliminary details. Saturday is going to be registered 200 or 250 targets. Sunday 150. Camping available, Beer and bbq Saturday night.

Based on that I will put a request in: please set up multiple "events" if it's to be a 200+ bird day.

My wife will be coming; she'll do 150 in a day, but 250 is a lot, for a lot of people. So it would be nice to see a 150 + 100 set up, rather than an all or nothing.

I have no idea how you would do the prizing for this. I think it would be a nightmare unless you simply counted targets and anyone shooting at less targets would likely not win anything.

That said, I love to shoot 200+ clays in a day. And I can get the wife to come out and shoot clays sometimes. But she definitely shies away from anything over 100. Most places will let her shoot a "half day" but then its as if the event hosts are making an exception for her. It would be easier to get her to come out if there was an option at signup for the partial event.

This is easy to do in theory, and hard in practice. The "rounds" before and after lunch can be separate events. There can be medals from the association for those, club prizes can be awarded based on shooting all the targets. This is hard on volunteers, but doable.

I don't have a problem charging for only half the shoot. Maybe a female hunter class option of 150 targets? We've always done 200 targets saturday but being registered and not on the same weekend as the federal 400 we are expecting more shooters this year. we are planning out the course tonight so i should have a better idea of stations and target numbers soon.

Any kind of "half day" option would be great, a "Hunter Half" would fit the bill, and if it eliminates the registration issues, awesome.

Obviously I can't speak for everyone, but registered or not, I just want to shoot and support the clubs that host these events (hopefully then we get more!)

How would you do the half?
Morning only?
Afternoon only?
Shooters choice? (either morning or afternoon)
Full day like everyone else but only half as many targets at each station?

We'll figure it out at the registration.

I think it's a great idea on paper. I don't think it will be good in practice. Someone is bound to complain that "it wasn't fair that the afternoon targets were easier (or harder) than the morning targets". If it was me, I'd stay away from it unless I had a plan decided going in to it. But its your call. But "figure it out at registration" gives me an uneasy feeling.

In any case, it won't affect me - I'm there to throw lead at as many targets as you can give me :)

Good call on the Ladies/Juniors advertising; it's a great program, but poorly advertised.

As a thought on the "at registration" portion: Hunter class. You are advertising it, use it. Only want to shoot 120 (lets face it, a case is a lot for a lot of people), do it in hunter; eliminates the complaining because hunter is the catch all anyways.

yup. hunter class. fwow have your wife decide which she would like to do and we can accommodate her requests. It will just be for fun anyways.

Hey guys and gals

Please preregister by contacting Pflethbridge@gmail.com. Tickets for non-shooters to the steak bbq and fundraiser are $20. Everyone is welcome shooting or not. we also could use some volunteers Saturday and Sunday. Trappers, scorers, and registers.

hope to meet you at the Coulee Classic

I'm planning on going down just for the Saturday; anyone else interested in carpooling from Calgary?

I'm working under the idea it's the same timings as last year, so aiming to leave by about 0700, to be there for 0900, and of course to allow for coffee.
