Just got another SVT-40 in the mail today and thought I'd dig out the other and share a couple photos. w:h:

Top: 1942 Tula, standard Army stock, regular receiver, narrow trigger guard, 2 port muzzle brake
Bottom: 1940 Tula, AVT Naval stock, slotted receiver, wide trigger guard, 6 port muzzle brake

Nice rifles. I see you have a svt 38 magazine on one. I also recieved a mag like yours with one of mine, I consider it a bonus. Can I ask where you bought your bayonets and how much?

Djmay71 - are you referring to the 'A' on the stock? I'm not positive, but it may be representative of the AVT stock? Anyone else know?

Bshooter - I didn't actually notice the different magazine until they were side by side. Thanks. Didn't know it was from a SVT-38. Interesting. Must have been thrown on during refurb.

Cheers

Yes the "A" is found on avt stock, also we can see the refurb mark.

Nice set of '40's, my favorite milsurp. How do the first one shoot? Let us know how the new acquisition shoots too, the more we know about the 40's the merrier. Those bayos are making me jealous, a pretty pricey piece of kit, say that fast 4 times. :D Happy shooting.

Yup, the bayonets were more than I wanted to spend, but I wanted to scoop them while I could still find them under 200 bucks. I only needed one but ended up buying 2. Now I finally have another SVT-40 to go with it. Milsurp is addicting!

Looking good. I'm gonna have to see about adding an SVT-40 to my collection one of these days.

Don't wait too long. Weimajack is advertising that the two he is selling are his last! He also put them up to $345.00 from $299.00 which is a good indicator. When he said that about the Walther P1 pistols, they started to dry up shortly after from dealers...

We could be reaching that point where all of the suppliers and dealers are going to run out of unfired refurbs and we are going to be at the mercy of the EE and used prices from dealers. If it turns out to be true, and they are running out, the price is going to get steep in a hurry.

Seems that they are both AVT stock, there's a notch for the safety on the right side, on a AVT 40, that position was for full auto fire. The stock with the sling slot with a "A" is the naval stock variant, i think:)

Thanks Joce, you are correct. I was under the assumption that the stock with the sling slot was AVT, but it makes sense that the other is too with the notch. Got mixed up with standard stock versus naval stock. Now SVT vs AVT. Head hurts from variations now! Thanks for the info.
Cheers all!
