Sat in the stand for 8 nights, saw probably 12 different bears. I waited for my dad to come up for the weekend before decide to take one. Lots of small ones. Likely 100lbs or so. One bear maybe over 225lbs and the rest right in around the same size as the ones we took, 150lbs. I could have waited for a bigger one but goose season is fast approaching.

2 nice little bears. 140-150 pounders I think. A short fat one and a tall lanky one. Both in very good shape. Mine at 5pm dads at 6pm. Skinned and hung before dark. That doesn't happen very often on a bear hunt.

Had problems with a pushy outfitter who started baiting 3 days before he had his American clients show up (7 days after the season opened). The best part is he put the guy in a stand 80yrds from my bait site and stand .

Minor squabble with outfitter= outfitter f**ked off (smart choice by him)

I dont know how much a guy pays for a bear hunt but if I was the client I would be very pissed. I talked to the hunter from Virginia and he said they only had 3 bears for 7 guys and he hadnt seen anything all week. I didnt have the heart to tell him how many bears we had seen. Who ever this outfitter is he sure doesn't put to much effort into getting his clients bears. The fella from Virginia could have sat in my stand the next night and likely had his pick.

My dad used his muzzleloader for his. He had not bloodied it yet so this was a good chance. A 295g Powerbelt over 100gs of Pyrodex. He shot it as it was moving and quartering towards him. Bullet entered down through left shoulder, exiting behind last rib on right side, passed though right rear leg just above the ankle joint before continuing on to china. Dead Right There!

Mine was a 140g partiton from a 7mm-08. Bear was quartering away. Entrance a little high on left sholder, exited about perfect, right out the center of the chest. Top of heart and most the lungs were destroyed.
Ran 30yds and piled up. 2 death moans and lights out.

Congrats on the bears - good eating there.

I had a similar problem with a pro outfitter "johnny come lately" and tell me to move off my location. I got the MNR involved and the CO told the outfitter he had no more rights to the bush than I did. We talked out things and get along OK for years now. I always welcome his clients to Canada if I see one - and wish them good luck.

Yeah, if he hadnt lied to me and told me some #### and bull story about how he had baited for months and some crap about laws and his territory rights I might have told him that after that Sunday the place was all his.

That doesnt mean he can run locals out of the area. And truthfully if they are smart they wouldnt try as I could be a real pain in his ass if I wanted to be.
