I was at the range today and noticed something but it didn't click in my brain till just now.

What I observed was a mag change with two coupled LAR mags. Not side by side, but bottom to bottom.

It might have been that instant, but the mag change looked awkward.

I've never encountered it before today and then I got to thinking if it causes issues for 3 gunners.

Do you have a way to do a mag change with these that works well for you?

It's faster to just use the second ten rounds as weight to get the mag out quickly and do a standard speed reload from your belt or rig than to try flipping them end for end.

Put a rubber cap on the empty mag to protect the feed lips, then just drop away.

He's talking about dropping a full mag coupled with the empty mag, and then grabbing an entirely new mag.

I drop all my empty mags, I don't drop full mags :p (well not on purpose)

Yes. Its called "Redi-mag"

Yup, I run a Redi-Mod :D

But still thinking of a way in my brain to run 4 LAR mags coupled at the bottom.

It's the ejecting of the empty mag, then flipping it to use the bottom mag that has me puzzled right now.

Yes, I realized that. But since (when coupled) the empty LAR mag faces feed lips down, and LAR-15's are kind of POS to begin with... the rubber pad on the empty (only) magazine ensures they survive to see another session. I just really like the idea of a legal 20-round magazine (even if I do have to turn it around). :D

There's also the problem of the offset requirement (necessitated to clear the ejection port), because you're using LAR-15's that are straight (and not curved) - so standard AR couplers won't work properly.

(even if I do have to turn it around).

That's where my brain is having the problem.

How do you effectively turn it around?

i dont mind dropping them on the ground this way

I drop my mags all day long.

My question is how to flip two couple LAR mags effectively.

Yes I agree, all that time and training on mag changes gos out the windoW when you have back to back 10rd mags.
So any imput would be good.
I guess the fix is just one 10 rd mag with a. Longer body.
So many people have said they were going to make some. But nothing on the market yet.
Don't make me make some!!!!

I just drop them. If by some horrible miracle I was in a real gun fight, of course I wouldn't just drop live rounds unless I really really had to, but in 3-gun it's all about speed, so I just let em drop. My chest rig has six pouches on it, and 60 rounds is pretty much enough for any course of fire we're doing here.

I don't own an AR 15 yet so therefore I haven't done this, but wouldn't you just grip the mag with your left hand upside down, hit the mag release as normal, and turn your hand right side up and seat it? To me this feels like the most natural way to do it.
