Do you guys use cover scent went hunting from a stand or bowhunting?
Why? Why not?
What do you use?
How do you use it?

I will be bow hunting for the first time this fall, I will be hunting near cattle for whitetail. I have been considering hanging my clothes in a cattle barn for a few days before hand.

Mmmmm, interesting idea, but I would not reccomend it. I use a scent eliminating laundry soap, body/hair wash, equipment spray, body foam, and hand wipes. All of this together gives me a few more percentage points in the constant battle against a whitetail's nose. In combination with these tactics, I am VERY careful about wind direction, and if the wind is not PERFECT for my intended hunting site, I don't sit that stand. It is better to let a deer walk by an empty stand than to smell you from a couple hundred yards away and then know where your stand is.

Cover sent

I don't use store bought cover scents but make sure to keep hunting clothes out of the odours of food and such, I like to keep my hunting clothing in garbage bags when not in use and I add tree branches for some natural scent.
A bit of a funny story but my buddy and I where hunting W/T in the late bow season, I awoke to see this buck charge up between my buddy and I, then head over towards buddy, thawk and he bagged it, any how he said he just finished taking a wiz out of his stand about 5 minutes before the buck charged in. He swears by wiz now!

To each there own.

68 I don't know about hanging your gear in the cow barn, thats raunchy man!

Wear rubber boots , don't walk through high bushes , don't ever lay your pack on the ground. Basicly don't touch anything in around where your hunting. :D
I always forget to wear rubber gloves, so I dry wash my hands with pine branches far from where the action is.
If setting up a stand , remove all the branches you cut to improve your shot taking ,take climbing away from the site (50 or so meters)
When returning to hunt, never leave sent on the lower tree steps , by following earlier comments.
As for scent products , never use 'em , but will hunt down tarsal glands, interdigital glands , and even have a bag handy should I run across some fresh doe pee on the snow in an area I'm passing through. And place it at my stand site in a scrape.
And if I run across a buddy that shot a deer , there is a buffet of scent items for the taking. :D
If you follow the above, there is no need to get carried away with yourself being scent free,as you will be up in a tree , or down wind of that special hot spot.
The key is don't get to handy the bedding area(unless your hunting a difficult buck) and change locations if things are not working out, so the deer don't pattern your movements.
A topo/areal photo is your best tool, followed by actual scouting.
