With Covid-19 lock down I have lots spare time at home.

I use a low power scope (2-7x) for hunting in thick bush. Sighting in and verifying my rifle before hunting season is always lots of walking to the target to get a closer look at my grouping, especially if it is 100 yards or more.

Here is my project to save all that walking at the target range.

I bought a PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) camera ($65 from Ali Express). Set it up as HiFi hotspot, connect to a 12V battery. I can link the camera to my IPad (works with my Android phone too). You can control (pan, tilt, zoom) the camera, see your grouping with the IPad right from your shooting bench. Yes you can use a spotting scope but this was a fun and interesting project. I set it up in my basement to see what the image looks like. I will have to waiting till spring to try it on my private shooting range.

Here is what it looks like.

The WiFi spec is 300 ft to maintain maximum speed in a house. Since we are only sending static pictures and not surfing the Internet and it is a clear line of sight, shouldn't be a problem at the range. I will know more in the spring when I test the distance at my range.

Also the camera itself is a WiFi hot spot. You don't need anything else.

Looking forward to your update, whenever Spring is there!!! We live in the bush - oddly enough, we do actually have a line of sight to a cell tower - our only Internet connection is the HotSpots on our iPhones - hence my curiosity how far away they continue to work...
