Cowboy Action, pistol grip question

gre0066: Eagle Grips. Or: Altamont, are good sources for Ruger Blackhawk grips. Altamont grips are considerably cheaper than Eagle, but very high quality. I tend to prefer them now, over Eagle. Great variety of styles and options, too. Either brand will suit your Blackhawks well. Will depend on budget.

If wood is your preferred material, it is very easy to make your own grips for a Blackhawk with some inexpensive equipment...and you can make them to fit your hand to suit you.

I have built a # of sets for my self, wife and friends. You can buy a hardwood cutoff ( grain & weight of your choice) to use as the blank from any specialty wood store for pennies on the dollar compared to buying factory grips and with a few rudimentary tools (Hack saw, small assortment of course & fine cut files and a few sheets of sandpaper your away). You can speed up the process with a power tool or two such as a cheap Dremmel copy if you want.

Pretty enjoyable way to spend a few evenings watching TV and making a creation you will look warmly at afterwards. With just a saw and hand tools, it takes me about a week of evenings to build a set...with power tools I have built a set in a couple of evenings.
