Joe Laroche in Gatineau Quebec could do somthing up for you; I find his prices quite reasonable, and the time it takes to get it is fairly short..

I bought mine about 5-6 years ago from

J-B Leather
Box 102
Strome, AB
TOB 4HO
376-3553
(Jack Blaeser)

He does very nice work.

HOWDY; What you get may depend on how bad your need to win is. Many fine leather makers but the need for drawing and reholstering smooth and quick puts different needs into play.

There are many maufactures for Holsters designed spcifically for Cowboy Action. J-B Leather has some very nice rigs around, Luke A Leathersmith ( Dan Zimmerman) from Rocky Mountain House does a fine job. With the dollar almost at par, consider some of the well know holster makers like Mernickle out of the states. I use a holster made by Georges Saddlery in Riley Alberta, but I had him copy one of my originals when I switched from cross draw to a straight draw holster. I'm not sure how good he would be on a phone order. Guys like Mernickle are the pros at phone orders and know exactly what questions to ask and also which ones are the most important. Walt Austin out of B.C. makes a fine rig, Caribou Lefty could fill you in on details. Take your time, buying a gun rig is personal, needs to fit you properly and has a job to do. Almost like buying a pair of longjohns!

"...try Cabela's in the U.S...." Won't/can't ship to Canada.
"...get a good holster made up..." Decide how much money you want to spend first.

While I generally agree that it is best to support our Canadian market, you can also try San Diego leathers as well- they sell holsters and belts hand made in Mexico and will ship to Canada- it comes in as a hand made leather item. (Dropped in the store on a recent trip and they forwarded the items to me in Canada). Good quality workmanship, hand tooled, can custom tailor as well, color, size, arrangement, bullet loops in the belt, etc. but it will take some time. They use Pay Pal as well.

Niagara Glen

ps: Also Tundra Leather in Hamilton does holsters and belts.

I had no problem getting a holster from Cabelas in the States. Its a nice holster as well. Not unique but does the job.

+1 for Penner Custom Leather. Nice work at a good price. He built these two speed scabbard holsters and magazine pouches in about 2-3 weeks after I placed the order.

+1 more for Penner Custom Leather.

My Son and I just took delivery of our order...it was fast, courteous and perfectly custom made to our equipment.

Scott is fantastic to deal with...:)

just do it.

I agree with the recommendation for Penner's products.

Scott makes a good product, excellent service, was one of the sponsors of the 2010 IDPA BC Provs and he is a member here!

Doesn't get any better :)

If you're looking at a Cowboy rig for CAS be aware of SASS regulation, certain things aren't allowed. Check out the SASS shooters book, you'll get lots of info, also I'm sure the good leather makers will be able to give you good advise.
