On Saturday August 14th, we held the 1st CAS match in this part of New Brunswick. "A day in the life of a cowpoke" was comprised of 5 stages and we finished up with a Gunfighter competition. The total round count was 49 pistol rounds, 47 rifle rounds and 20+ shotgun rounds. It was fun, exciting and entertaining. The 1st shot rang out at 10am, when a pack of wolves tried to attack the herd, but no worries the cowpokes of the "Double B" were up to the task. With 11 shooters registered, we we're done at 2:30pm with time off for lunch and refreshments. We had purposely kept the invitations down, this being our 1st effort and all.
We were somewhat nervous but we are very pleased with the feedback we received after. One of our shooters, aka "Wounded Belly", who has years of experience both as a shooter and as an organizer, assured us that we had put on a 1st class shoot. Thanks "Wounded Belly". We are now starting work on getting ready for next year. I will keep ya'll posted as we go forward. If you're a CAS shooter or are interested to see what CAS is all about, there is a place in Cap-Pele NB where Cowboy Action Shooting is alive and well.

That's great that with so few shooters you were able to put on such a fine match. Sometimes here in Ontario, even with lots of people interested, it is like pulling teeth to get things done.

Well done Cagunman. All the best to you and your CAS organization down there in New Brunswick. I see by your number 86789 that you just recently joined SASS.

Cheers!

I became a member last January, I only discovered CAS about 18 months ago last October I got my shotgun, in december my Rifle January my RPAL in July and August I got my Vaqueros. This shoot was also the 1st shoot with all of my own guns.

Just looked at the pictures from your match. Nice. Good to see a bunch of the shooters getting into the spirit of the game and dressing the part. Your steel targets don't need to be shrouded out there in NB eh? Would love to get out to that part of the country for a match or two. Looks like a nice friendly bunch.
