Great folks to shoot with. Looking forward to seeing all of you at the 2021 Eastern Canadian Championship(Plus anywhere else our paths might cross). Should be a terrific event.

CAS is a lot of fun, for sure.

Naa...cowboy'n is just an hour of re-loading shells so the wife can shoot them all in a combined time of 5 minutes or less per match...the real fun is the hours spent socializing afterwards...Just going to finish my morning coffee and load the trailer for another "socializing-shooting event" this weekend.

There's a popular saying in cowboy action: "Come for the shooting. Stay for the people". I can't ever recall going to a cowboy match... be it at a local club level or major event...where I didn't thoroughly enjoy myself. Mostly due to the great folks I had the opportunity to meet and socialize with. CAS is a lot of fun.

Fingers284....hope you and the missus shoot straight and clean, this weekend.

I only shot the Sillywet this weekend but the wife shot the full-meal-deal and as usual had a ball...the best part of this weekend was that the daughter drug her new boyfriend along to the last shoot and showed an interest so this weekend we outfitted him as best we could with guns, belts & ammo for his first kick at the cat...he's on his way to the gun-store today to find a brace of pistols of his own for the next one...cowboy'n has a reputation of doing that to folks...eh..

The Square Circle Ranch headquarters is still a-building!
Construction and renovations are proceeding and the boardwalk is nearing completion.
Next match is Sunday, September 13th, the day following the CCFR march on Parliament Hill.
We hope to see everyone at both events.
The Cold Lake Kid
Trail Boss East.

The Livery Stable is open and we hired a hostler, although he seems to like his jug a bit too much.
When you're there, say Hello to Lefty.
If he isn't too far along, he may offer you a swig from his jug, but watch that stuff!
It sure ain't Canadian Club!

More work days put in by Palomino Pal, Red Storm and Rooster Corrigan. over the past few days.
Work done on buildings, props and steel targets moved, shrouds and steel painted and things getting ready for installation of a wood stove in the Saloon.
The board walk frame and construction is going well.
Rouge's Bath House is advertising, but some of services offered..........
Thanks Pards for all your work!

Saturday's Christmas match went off well.
Road kill stew was ............tolerated and choked down by 15 shooters and a number of on-lookers, including Clangity Jane, Telegrapher Operator.
Nice to see a number of new shooters and visitors joining us.
Our website and Facebook page has some pictures and videos.

Gees - who urinated in your Cornflakes?

Your attitude does more to ruin the fun/sport of the game than a leather belt. Lighten up a bit and wait for the SASS competitions to enact the letter of the law.

offgrid does have a point. Which I agree with, for the most part. Most folks who participate in the sport go to great effort in having their costuming as "period correct", as possible. And take great pride in doing so....as they should. Costuming is one of those integral parts of Cowboy Action, that makes it unique among shooting sports. And part of its great attraction. So.... I do believe that every effort should be made to keep it as close to its "Old West" theme, as possible.
Still.... SASS rules do allow for minimal costuming. At least in some categories. Which may include: Jeans, long sleeved shirt and work boots. So in my opinion, to categorize those who dress this way as, quote: "lazy slobs", is uncalled for.
In cowboy action, there's an old saying: "Run what you brung". So if someone wants to shoot a match in jeans, I say...go ahead. I'd rather see more folks enjoying the sport, than turn them away because they don't dress "right".

ps: I've had the privilege of shooting with many of the fine cowpokes/cowgirls in the photo. Always a good time. Looking forward to seeing all of you at the 2021 Eastern Canadian Championship.

So it's more historically correct to not wear a belt and have your trousers follow your six-shooters to the ground?

Also, should I wear gitch or be going commando for when that happens? Not sure what cowboys wore beneath.

Everyone one who knows me, or at least had shot with me, knows that I take the CAS costuming part seriously. But with a weather like the one we had on Saturday, I'd rather have people with insulated rubber boots than people with hypothermia or no people at all!
Plus, we always welcome new shooters and that means being tolerant.
Finally, as i have been involved for many years with one the highest standard 7-year war reenactment group around, I can tell you folks, CAS is not about historical reenactment! One can always strive to achieve a good representation of what people wore in the old west, but except being a nie example for the other shooters and maybe scoring points if there is a costuming contest, but it should not stop anyone to participate. If people wants costuming tips on the victorain era, i can help. If they want to wear jeans and a dollar store cowboy hat, that up to them. If they want to be snob about it, well, that's not really the spirit of the game, isn't it?
