To all you SASS enthusiast, if money was no obstacle, what would be your ultimate Cowboy shooting trio? What would be the ultimate: single action revolver, lever action rifle and side-by-side shotgun?

For repeating shotgun (I know, I know, you didn't ask!), that lever-Winchester and the 1897 are both eerily desirable......

And I've got a severe lust for the solid versions of the Lightning pump-action rifles (I know, I know - again, not asked about..:D).........:)

For revolver, the S & W Model 3 (.44 Russian) is, to me, a thing of beauty......

I like my Orignal Remington 1875 Army set up in 45 Schofield. ;)
I can see why Frank James liked the 1875. I prefer this gun over even my SAA orignal Colt.

Great actions very strong theses orignal units can handle some nice smokeless reloads.

As far as a Shotgun im looking for a perscribed Antique SXS 14 Ga cartridge shotgun with 16 inch barrels. still looking tho. also they made 24 Ga SXS to..

For black powder C&B I LOVE my twin Uberti Remingtons. Based on the build quality both externally and internally I'd have no qualms at all about any of Uberti's firearms. As for which cartridge guns to get I'd love to have a set of the Remington 1858 cartridge conversions, or possibly the 1875's, along with a set of the S&W Schofield clones and a set of the 1871/72 open top conversions. The variety of gun types is what intrests me more so than just getting any one pair of wheelguns.

For a lever gun I think I'd consider an 1873 clone by Uberti. I've already had some issues with ammo fussiness of the 1894 Rossi/Puma I have and the '73 action is reported to be far more tolerant of ammo types. I've also seen a Lightning in use and they sure are fast and smooth.

No real thoughts on shotguns other than making them slick enough to be able to shuck the emptys with a flick back of the gun. Maybe one of the double hammer style as a companion for the BP guns.

For now I have been shooting with a disability affecting my right tricep tendon. The plow handle on a Colt/Ruger/clone really makes things uncomfortable. I picked up an Uberti Schofield and it was a different world. The near 90 degree grip frame (like on the Remingtons) seems to take the punishment out of it. I think I could be sold on non-SAA type pistols from now on. I'm thinking the 1873 would be hard to beat even though my '92 hasn't let me down yet. But I haven't found a shotgun I agree with yet. That's my real weak spot.

I want two Uberti Remington 1875 Outlaws's with 5 1/2 barrels with factory engraving = h ttp://www.ubertireplicas.com/foto/engraved_int/outnew/1875%20outlaw%20standard%20big.jpg
I want an Uberti Winchester 1873 Deluxe Sporting Rifle; (24 in. barrel, pistol grip and with engraved gold plate) = http://www.ubertireplicas.com/foto/engraved_int/carbines/rifle/1873 Gold plated big.jpg
But I'm going to keep my original Remington hammer shotgun with barrels cut to 24 in. (I might be tempted to try an 1887 lever shotgun).
And then comes the guns for the side matches..............

OK, I wasn't really into the whole "impossible dream" thing.... :D

If money was seriously no object for real then I'd have a pair of these gold inlaid top break pimpalicious pistols and some really fancy embossed two color conched to helln'back leather to carry them around. Of course then I'd need a serious Mississippi gambler's get up with a shiney silk vest and all to go with it.... :D

But since money isn't an issue in this dream and given that I enjoy some variety I'd have similar poshly engraved or inlaid dual rigs with Remingtons, Bisleys and likely a couple of pairs of C&B engraved barbaque guns as well.

as far as single action revolvers, i recently acquired the ones i wanted...matching set of 2ND gen. colt army's in 44-40, both have had the trigger done (to match), they're real light but haven't put the gauge on them yet (a friend borrowed my trigger pull gauge)

Well I have 2 dream guns for carbines 1) my Marlin M1894S in .44 magnum or my 1906 mfg Winchester M92 in .44 mag. For pistols a pair of Ruger old style Vaqueros & as a shotgun my 1913 mfg. Winchester M97.

If you get into the side matches my favourite lever action rifle caliber carbine is my 1902 mfg Winchester M94 in .38-55 and in the buffalo rifle class my Shilo Sharps #3 Sporting Rifle in .45-70. As for Winchesters, don't waste your money on post 64 junk guns.
