I picked up a Marlin 1894 in 45 Colt this week. Beautiful gun but I really hate the Buck-horn sights. I would like to get a set of vernier sights mounted as i seem to get a better sight picture with aperture. Any suggestions on which brand you feel is of good quality and readily available in Canada

First, and most importantly, check the SASS regulations to see if those sites can be added to the gun. If not, then it doesn't matter if they are available. I am assuming since you said "cowboy" in your post title that you want to shoot cowboy matches with it.

At least one guy I know shoots CAS with a Marbles tang mounted peep sight. Of course the final opinion will come from the SASS rulebook.

True, it would be a real pain to show up at a big SASS event to be told your rifle in a no go, when just a simple check of the rules would clear it up. AFAIK, if the site was available on the gun back in the 1800's (I think 1870 to 1898 or something), or is considered a normal upgrade that was done in the period, its probably O.K.. But thumb through the rules for clarification.
