So like the title states my area is infested with Coyotes we have them at my parents house and at my brothers house 2 Km away. So here's the scope, my brother and sister in law tell me that they come right up to their house and bark at their dog in the garage at night and early morning, my sister in law tells me that she was sitting on her front porch the other morning and one came up on her lawn. My great uncle who lives accross the road from my parents said that the other night he heard the wickedest screeching and snareling he'd ever heard back behind our barns (as our farm in acrross the road) so we walked out behind the barns the next day and found traces of Deer bones (we found some the size of a tibia and fibula (for example). While my parents were away my sister in law was looking after my parents dog and she saw one in the old dog house that isn't used by the dog btw. So i went out there one afternoon while my parents were away grabed a gun and went out to the dog house and kicked the side of it and something came out I took a quick shot at it but I think I missed as there are thick pine trees that the dog house is up against and the coyote ran into. A few years back we had a Siberian Husky that we suspect got picked off by the coyotes as it was there one day and not the next. So what do we have to do to get rid of these things get a hunting party out after them? Are they open game?

and the worst thing os my brother Neighbour feeds the damn things.
what do we do.

Ahhh, the joy of living out in the country. :) Things could be a whole lot worse, you could be living downtown TO  I hope your neighbour at least feeds them cats :p

I do not know the hunting regs in ont or if they cover yotes but to thin em out a bit shooting and trapping are your primary tools, you say your brother is feeding them perfect, what & where? Do they eat it up regularly? U can use this info to set up your own baitpile also to keep in mind is your shooting lane aside from obvious safety concerns you need to be able to get into shooting position undetected do not shoot off your baitpile until they have hit it for bout a week. Back to your brothers bait if he is not monitoring it or does not care then set legholds around all bait that you are not shooting off of. My last advise is do not educate the coyotes, in this regard you are at an advantage already, they think your yard is relatively safe and to keep them thinking that do not shoot yotes in a group & be sure of a kill before puling the trigger, if you do not shoot and remain undetected they will be back, check your traps often (twice a day) from a distance & dump carcasses in an area that the yotes are difficult to reach/hunt.

Hey.. any time to get together and get rid of some yotes is a good time.. if you need help, let me know (have the gun, the ammo, the license and the urge to have a good time.. ;) )

Me 3 or 4.
Ready any time after moose hunting.
I'd love to try my new Stevens 200 .223 on the field.
Please let me know if someone is organizing a yote hunt. I'd love to participate. I don't mind traveling within 3 hours distance out of Toronto.

Keep feeding them until the snow comes then with a few of your buddies you can have fun. We hunt them in the same area every year and every year you get a new batch. You have a lot of offers to help.

OK guys I'd love to do a CGN "Thin out their numbers shoot" but it's not my property It's my Dads and we're extremely busy at the moment on the farm. but if he goes for it I'll let you know. I know I know we should thin out their numbers because if we don't then they'll eat up their food supply and starve, so, we need to kill or else they'll die. Thanks for the reply's.

The other night, Had a coyote jump into back of truck to get into a dry bag of cat food. There are plenty around here and I still shoot them. They have a tendancy to move in from other areas. Around my province, coyotes are open season to shoot . This may be different in northern fur area.

coyote

run snares where u will be away from dogs. Ask any trapper or fur buyer the best way to set. A proper snare kills fast and is always at work. ps check it is legal in your area. note this is not fun like shooting!!:cheers:
